Should I get an endoscopy?

Recommended Posts

I am seven weeks out with nausea and vomit quite often. Rarely is there a day that I don't. Anyway, doctor suggested to have a look and see, or should I just hold out and wait to see if it gets better?

Follow your doctor's advice. Are you having the nausea and vomiting after eating? There is definitely a learning curve, learning to eat slowly and recognizing the signs of being full. I am 9 months post-op and a couple of times a month I will screw up and vomit from being too full. Eating slowly is such a challenge for me because I live with a couple of speed eaters!

Sometimes I think that I am eating too fast then other times right when I wake up dry heave. Then try to eat 30 minutes after and can't keep it down. The nausea is almost constant.

Yeah time for an endoscopy. But pour doctor knows best.

Eating too fast and over filling your stomach is so easy to do but waking up dry heaving is totally not okay. However, I know some people suffer from nausea for quite a while after surgery and have to be on anti-nausea medication. I know someone who was nauseous for at least 3 months. It is rare.

Hey there, if you haven't done the scope, you should get it done. I had the gastric bypass surgery done Nov 4th of this year and the last few weeks I have been having progressive trouble with getting food in and feeling like it was getting stuck in my throat. Just before christmas I went into emergency because I wasn't able to keep food or Water down...after spending an agonizingly long wait to be seen by a doctor and assessed, they had sent me for an endoscopy and it turns out that there was a build up of scar tissue around the site where small intestine was joined to new pouch, leaving a very very tiny hole for food and water to pass through. They had to put a tube down into my stomach area and inflate a small balloon device to dilate the area with the scar tissue, I am now able to get in a bit more food and water (still get a bit nauseous, but better than before).

How are you doing now?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
