My Story

  • Popular Post

I had my gastric bypass surgery on July 22nd. I decided to have the surgery due to multiple medical reasons and of course wanting to loose the weight. I got pregnant when I was 18 and have been overweight since. I am now 33 and have 2 wonderful kids. I am married to the most wonderful man in the world and he is the most awesome step father to my kids. post-227864-14184038301424_thumb.jpgpost-227864-1418403841223_thumb.jpgThey all encouraged me and supported me throughout this process. At 5 months out from surgery I have gone from 280 lbs at my heaviest to 186.2 as of this morning!! I feel like a new person. Just like most everyone I have had some ups and downs but I would make the same decision to have this done if I had to do it all over again. I am so excited to continue on this new journey in my life!!

I drink slim fast high protein. They have 20 grams and taste really good. I have some extra skin but that is expected since you loose so much weight. Mine is not too bad though. Exercising is the key. I don't go overboard and live at the gym or anything. My pain wasn't too bad. I was only on the pain meds for a day or two after coming home from the hospital. Just don't get frustrated. There will be times when you wonder if it was the right call to go through with it and there will be foods that just don't agree with you but it is all worth it in the end. I was scared too but I just kept telling myself I am doing this for my health and for my family so I could be the best mom and wife I can be.

You look great! So happy for you! I can't wait to get my surgery! :)

Update: As of this morning I was down to 173.4 lbs!! I am 5 1/2 months out. That's 107 lbs from my highest weight. I am loosely wearing a size 14 pants and size large shirt. I haven't worn a size 14 pant since I was 16 years old!! So excited to keep going. Thanks everyone for the positive comments and support. It really keeps me on track.

Well its almost time for short season. Had to go and get some shorts and tank tops. I haven't been able to feel comfortable wearing shorts and tanks tops for sooooo long. Now I'm excited for warmer weather. As of this morning I was down to 158.4. I am only 8.4 pounds away from my goal weight of 150 and I'm only 8 months out!!! Of course if I loose more that's ok too. :)

I never wear shorts in public. I wonder if that will change once I lose weight.
