Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Hello there Band fans....I got banded March 28th-2007.

I told myself....Bycyling would be a very good choice. Fresh air, muscles working for the sake of "Cardio". After one week passed--in April. I purchased three new bikes for me and my two sons. I have defeated many things doing that. No more not riding with my children--we ride as a crew (family). We could not conquer the hill on my street. We used to stop 3 to 4 times before getting to the top ( I did). So now the wheels have turned. My kids ask me---"Daddy can we stop--our legs are burning". Thank God I am doing well now. Now with 21 pounds gone---but just riding bikes. I am ready for the next Journey...The 1st fill--I am looking forward to the next 4 to 6 weeks--maybe 12 or 20 pounds gone...who knows...:faint: this is how I feel on many days after my ride. Today--(8.5 miles) It was walking, riding around the fair in my town--but that is what my speedometer said when it was all over...

They are very yummy. I have tried the orange, strawberry, and black cherry. All of them were very yummy. I also like regular Clif bars too. A little harder to eat but delicious all the same.

  • orange is my fav. I've had punch too, not so good.

  • Okay, so you two concur on the orange, strawberry and black cherry. Cherry is my favorite flavor, so I will get more of that. Thanks, chicas! (I gave y'all "reputation" for this info! I still can't be

damn, you're fast. No - won't bid against you - i'm on bike toy probation right now...

B

Yeah, B...I know. I was telling SUZZZIE earlier today that I'm an extremist. When I decide to go, I GO! That's pretty much for everything across the board. Work, play, excercise...everything.

Bike toy probation...too funny. I may need to tiptoe and sweet talk, or I may end up there with ya!

SUZZZIE - These folks know what they are talking about! And B is a fellow Texan, too! (Always a bonus!)

Thanks for the info mbs and Stef!

And Stef... of course you couldn't have been talking about me. Lol. And I came across you and this thread quite by accident - I was only looking for bike info - but now that I know you're here I shall stalk gently. :)

Stef - i'm a little extremist too - my goal is to ride paris-brest-paris in 2011 - 1200km on a bike in 90 hours. Felt a little strange to say that when I weighed 320 and hadn't been on a bike in 15 years. It'll take some effort and sacrifice, but i'll be there.

Man, that IS extreme! That link you gave me to the FWBA? This months' newsletter is downloadable and has an article about one of the members doing that! You should read it, though...it sounds amazing! It is part one of I don't know how many.

Okay...just took a break...mid-post...to look up how far that is. ARE YOU CRAZY?!?!? I can't believe you had the audacity to say I move fast! LOL I know you know this, but I feel it MUST be said...745.65 MILES?!?!? I can't even phathom the notion.

Well, one thing is for sure. You give me plenty of things to start researching. Curiosity will kill me one of these days.

JC - Thanks! He's adorable! Yeah, when I picked that tag in the machine, it was red...then out popped a pink tag! Oh well! His name is Koda, and he is so much fun. After having Black Labs literally all my life, it is quite a switch to have a five-pound ball of fur!

Yes, it has the Zerks. If I remember correctly, in the same locations as your except for trading in handlebars for one below the seat post?

Sounds like you had a great weekend! What do you do for your ab work? I do quite a bit myself, and always looking to add to it or change it up some for variety.

TX, appologize to Koda for me. I meant no harm big boy! I have a Chocolate Bull Boxador.

Those Zerks make a big difference, I like them!

As for AB work.....well:Banane56:. LOL

D, Yes I have amped up the exercise!

JC

My fingers are getting a workout. I keep trying to win this fucking radio contest and my fingers are all cramped from dialing over and over and over. My effing work phone does not have redial lol. I want that 10,000 gift certificate lol.

JC - Great AB work! LOL Great dog, too. Oh, Koda is just fine trust me! He is completely secure in his manhood...he humps everything in sight, which is bad when we have company!

HP - Is it normal that my Poms "endowment" is bigger than HE is? It is positively, grotesquely HUGE. After a romp with one of his stuffed animals, he can't even walk or it drags the floor!

lol

YEA I WOULD SAY SOMETIMES THAT IS THE CASE ALLOT WITH THE SMALLER ONES.....LOL

MINE LIKES TO HUMP OUR CAT

TX, It's normal I have the same problem! Especially after stuffed animal sex! LOL

I....uh....er......ummmm......

Yep letting it go.

BG

I have a great finger workout, I'll show you sometime.

Suzzie

You need to shorten that. We don't allow for anything over two letters. ZZ or SZ or create your own....

As for a bike let me tell you that the biggest problem you'll have is under buying a bike. Ask HP or D. You say oh, I'm only going to ride 10 or 15 miles and you spend $300 on a regular/hybrid bike. Later, like a few weeks, you'll wish you saved that 300 and put a bit more with it to get a road bike.

Really, honest and truly, unless you plan on riding on dirt, don't get a hybrid and go straight for the road bike. Don't let the skinny tires scare you. They make for a smooth ride. I was a good 260# on a road bike and it was fine.

As for fit, what B said, your bike will tell you when it feels good. Test ride at least 4 and go at least 10 minutes on each...the LBS expects you to ride. And don't worry about being chubby with all the sporty folks working there. They love biking more than they care about your weight and they'll talk your ear off.

We heart biking and getting fit. Welcome to the craziness.
