  1. WEll, I am at the 5 year mark on May 31, and I just recently had a band slip and am scheduled for a band revision or removal on the exact same day at the exact same time. At this time, my hopes are for a revision as my doctor is planning on putting a new band in place which he feels is going to do a better job and have less risk of slippage than the one I currently have. I have been back and forth with my decision and think that if its possible that is what I am voting for. This is a way of life for me now, has been for over 5 years, and I just cannot think of living any other way. I am happy to say that I started my journey at 368lbs, and am down 173lbs. On surgery date I was 321, so from 5 years ago, I am down 126lbs and are within 30lbs of my goal weight of 165. I am hoping that when I report in next year at this time, I will have lost that 30 and be in maintence:) Just wanted to share, and say hello to all the 2007 May Bandsters. Traci
  2. First had my surgery 5 years ago May 31, 2007 I had a removal of my old band and placement of a new one on May 31, 2012!!!

    Today Is The Day

5 years ago today I had my lapband procedure and was well over 325lbs( after losing from 365 from first part of the year) I at my lowest was 180, but have had some complications over the past year and currently are at 202. Today I go in for a band revision/new band hopefully, or possible removal! I am hoping for the first! At first I wanted it out and over with , but after I got my strength and appetite back I quickly realized WHY I have my band Slips are no fun, not 2!!! So, I am hoping next time I most I will be a new 2012 bandster!!!! Traci

    May 2007 Banders

That was my day to Dolores!! Way to go. I am so thankful for the band, even though this past year and a half has been quite a challenge with it...... I started at 368, and am down 168lbs....200. I have had some health issues and a band slip which caused me to put some back on, highest I got back up to was 225! Scary. My lowest was 180, and I am planning on trying to get back to that here over the next several months. I have learned a lot, and I hope to stay healthy while getting to this goal weight....Good luck!!!! Traci

I know that when I was waiting for approval, I was scared, but so hyped......I had not shared with anyone, except the immediate household...so it was hard for me to keep quiet..LOL Have you been able to go by Bike Smiths to take a look at the bikes?? Were they helpful..? I am hoping you are doing well, and if you need to chat, please shoot me a email anytime...would love to help in anyway I can. Traci

    May 2007 Banders

Hello everyone.....I, just like most had my struggles with my band, but it has been a tool for me that I am still learning to use to my advantage. I had done very well at the start in 2007/2008....than in 2009 we had a family issue and my mom was hospitilized for over 3.5 months. Being back in my hometown with all the comfort food of home got the best of me. A good friend got me back on board last summer and I went back to my doctor....got real, got weighed, and got a adjustment. I have since started biking and hiking more, and am getting close to my doctor and mine goal..... My biggest challenge has always been gaining during the winter, so we hiked in snow, and rode when we could both inside and out. Mountain biking has really got me energized...loving the challenge, and excited for the scenery. Everyone on this site has always been great and supportive of one another, and it is nice to know I can still check in and say hello... Keep up the good work everyone...band or no band....we can do this.... Traci

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

I am down over 100 lbs and am 22 lbs away from my doctors goal for me....but I know that I will want to still lose more after that is reached.... It was hard....the first was easier.....and then stress happened, old ways came back and showed it's ugly head....but I can say I got back on board last summer and am very close now!!! It is reachable....but it takes patience, and determination. Everyone...keep up the good work.

    Been Quite sometime

Well I cannot believe this is the first time I have been on here in this long.....it seems like just yesterday when i started this journey, and I have taught so much about myself over the past years and have changed so much I have a hard time remembering the "Old" me. I gained in between the end of 2009/2010 and had not been back to see the Doctor until last summer...which is when I finally got back on track. Everyone thinks this is simple, but we all know it is something we deal with daily and we have to stay on top of to be succesful. I am closer now to my goal than ever before, and I cannot wait to Kiss the 200's good-bye!!!
  15. Well, I am almost at a 4 year mark and I am finally getting close to where I started wanting to reach and it is within reach now. I am excited to get back online and see how everyone is doing from our 2007 gang!!!!

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I have to say, and to be completely honest, that I have neglected myself since Sept of last year. I have not been back to the lapband doctor, nor have I been watching what I am eating and or drinking. I was down and close to getting below a certain mark in August, and than BAMMM....the ugly head of the past showed up, and my stress, and my lack of dealing with it got in the way. So.... I go to the lap band doctor a week from today.... I bought a skewer for my bike for the trainer... I am signed up for dog obedience class with my dog and I am committed to getting this back under control. I need to be accountable to someone...and will be more than happy to lend my support, to get support.... SO....... Lets get something started!!!!! Please feel free to email me.....

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

hello everyone.... well, I hit my 2 year mark this past sunday and also celebrated my daughter graduating High school. I am not at my goal weight yet, but within reach....about 35 more pounds to go...the last seem to just creep off. we have been doing allot of training rides with our friends from the local town.....great times, if you like hills than this is your kind of ride. There is a ride this weekend called the B&O tour in Brownsburg, In It uses the trails from the old railroad, and it spans 62 or 65 miles from one county to several others. Should be a nice day Anyway.....just wanted to pop in and say hello.... hope everyone is doing good....and be safe

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

hi everyone.... Took off work today because I had a doctors appointment for my 6 month mammogram re check...all is well...no repeat for 12 months.... my husband and I both took the day off and went riding afterward looking for some new roads to ride....had a heck of a head wind, but all in all a real nice ride. We are expecting rain the rest of the week which stinks... Hope everyone is doing well...Julie love your new picture......

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

J Yes, I do plan to track miles this year, as I almost had 1500 last year and plan to do what I can to hit 2000 or better I was able to get a nice good ride in on Saturday late afternoon, and kicked her down pretty good playing cat and mouse allot with john.... We only rode 22 miles, but had great averages, and allot of head wind to fight with...but it felt so good. It is amazing how just getting back out helps me in other areas as well....as far as what I am eating, how much energy I have and how much better I sleep. I think I must of turned into a bear over the winter...MUST NOT DO THAT ANYMORE> So, I will try and get a ticker back up here and add to my signature KRtork It is amazing how much fun the rolling hills are.....mostly if you get a good speed going down, than you dont have to peddel so much going back up. And you know what..I was off my bike since Dec, and the first time back out I was fighting with my gears too....LOL
