Recommended Posts

I am excited getting closer to my surgery target date, Feb, my Valentine's gift to me n my son n husband. I still have more tests etc but am I the only one that wants to French Kiss her fav food goodbye? I m happy to say I am eating less now than ever n few things I did have like Blimpies n Wendy's were gross. But still will miss prime rib, BAKED potatoes, French bread n hot, buttered movie popcorn!

My surgery is Dec 17 and I go on liquid diet in 1 week. I'm grieving over having to let go of the foods I'll have to live without that I love, like sweets and popcorn! Thinking I should go to the movies and have some hot, buttered popcorn before the liquid diet starts!

I'll also miss the buttered movie popcorn, but I look forward to being comfortable sitting in the theater seat. My behavior modification counselor has being telling me to "slow down and savor the foods I'm eating", fortunately when I am thinking about what I'm eating now, some of the bad stuff (aka my favorites) have now turned into gross stuff in my mind and I have no interest in them. You are so right, it is hard to think about what you'll be missing, but just think of what the trade-off will be. I hope your countdown to the 17th goes quickly and your surgery safe. :-)

I went to the movies yesterday and had popcorn! Today I start my liquid diet. I know it will be hard, much harder than afterwards, since my stomach is still normal size. Happitam, thanks for the encouragement. I started this WLS journey last March with seeing the dietician monthly and, of course, all the other Dr. appts. and tests. I also wasn't having any real issues with missing foods as I did well with seeing the dietician. I gave up a big diet pepsi addiction and many other things and lost 30 lbs on my own. I went on vacation last month, then Thanksgiving, and gained weight back. So as I get closer to the big day, is when I started realizing all the foods I will have to do without and it's hard for me. I feel like I'm losing a best friend! But, all that being said, I would, of course, rather have a life with this weight off and am more than willing to give up these foods in exchange! Or I wouldn't be going through with this! I start my liquid diet today, surgery in 1 week. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I am confident that I am going to do fantastic and look forward to what my life will be in the future. :-)

I always keep in mind a line from a Glenn Frey song "Living Right" which goes something like "give something up - get something back". The something you get back will be much more valuable as you come to realize what you gave up was an unhealthy pathological relationship.

I went through GB surgery being as emotionally addicted to certain kinds of comfort foods as anyone could be. I don't miss those foods now - they don't taste the same and food is now just food and it is the most wonderful life when food is no longer the 800 pound gorilla in control of your life, but you are now in control of it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
