Can I stop crushing my pills yet?

Recommended Posts

Hi. Good morning to all you weight-loss winners! Happy Thanksgiving. This is my first Thanksgiving post-op. I'm simply amazed that I'm not even craving the ridiculous stuffing I've done in years past; stuffing all that food in my mouth, to be exact. Ha ha ha

I am just shy of 8 weeks post-op. Everything has been near perfect so far. The hardest thing for me, to this point, is having to crush all the medicine I'm still taking. I take 4 different BP meds & sleeping medication. It all tastes nasty and it's the only reason I've almost blown chunks. I'm mixing with applesauce, yogurt and have even tried adding Splenda.

My surgeon has told me I have to wait 3 months before taking my medicine whole, or normally, again. Has anyone begun taking any medications normally sooner than 3 months post-op? Any complications from doing that?

Thanks a bunch for any advice, replies, or suggestions.

Happy Holidays to all!

I am about 8 weeks out as well. I never crushed my medicine and I have quite a few. Instead, I spaced the taking of the medicine over 20 minutes. I have no problems.

Most of my Vitamins were small and I could swallow them or split them in two and swallow them. But the Citracal were horse pills. They were very large and I crushed them and mixed them with a glass of Crystal Light. But even at that they had a terrible chalky taste.

At 3 months my nutritionist asked me to try and swallow one. I did and it worked. It made life a lot easier.

I also am 8 weeks post op and although I got my medicines down to only a couple I am able to either swallow them whole or break them in half now. Probably the largest size however would be the size of an extra strength Tylenol capsol.

You just have to take your time in between. Good luck.

I was put on Cipro 3 days post-op. I take them whole. The day after surgery I was taking two pills once daily and those were whole. I just space mine out so I'm not taking them all together. Especially since I take 6 Vitamins a day too. I am only 7 days post-op. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
