How long was your recovery

Recommended Posts

I have a scheduled surgery for early January. Curious how long everyone was down for. Surgery is on a Thursday for me and was thinking that with a deskjob I could try and head back to work the next Wednesday (6 days recovery). Looking for thoughts and advice... what was worst part of recovery (being tired, pain, feeling ill?)

Good luck! I took off for 2 weeks and went back to a desk job..and actually wish I took another week off! Adjustments and being so tired were the things that got to me! Good luck!

I don't recommend going back that fast. Take at least 2 weeks & definitely wait till they have removed the drain. I was out a lot longer because I had a hysterectomy at the same time as my sleeve. I could have probably gone back after 4 weeks but they had me out for 6 weeks

I am 8 days post op and wouldn't be able to go back to work yet. Protein and Water take a lot of effort at this point and I get worn out really quickly. I do a few light chores then have to rest for a bit before I can continue . I feel 100 times better than I did last week but I am nowhere near that point. This is major surgery. Give yourself time to heal properly and fully so you have less potential for problems.

Hi i had my surgery on mon 17th nov (3 days ago) and i am amazed at how well i feel.Just a little sickness feeling but the meds soon sort that.I am 65 years old and was expecting a lot more trouble but i can honestly say i do not even have any pain just a little discomfort.I have booked 10 days off work and if i carry on as i am i feel i will be fine going back to work.I think i have just been lucky, the nurses and surgeon were all expressing how well i bounced back.I can only wish the same for you.pippinleicester.

Everyone is different but I was "good" after a week.

I had surgery last Thursday and I go back to work tomorrow. I'm a little concerned about getting tired, but otherwise I feel fine.

ETA: Not to say I wouldn't mind another week or two off though... :P

I took two weeks off from work (desk job). I had my surgery on a Monday and was clothes shopping by Friday, but took it very easy on lifting. I did alot of walking per surgeon's orders.

You need to listen to your body. This is a major surgery and everyone's recovery will be different. You may feel great within a week or you may still have discomfort. You may feel very tired or you may have tons of energy.

I wanted to get back to a regular life right away also, but I also didn't want to jeopardize all the work getting the surgery done.

The worst part was all the hoop-jumping with insurance to get to the surgery. Everything else was easy peasy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
