Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Anybody have some fun rewards in mind (other than great health, of course) for when they reach some milestones? I'm already planning my family vacation to Disneyland for 8 months post-surgery. And when I hit the 100 mark, I'll be getting a little bling-bling to mark the occassion. What do you have planned? ;)

I think this is great. I think my small/short-term goals will be the new clothes I get to purchase. But for my long-term goal...I haven't decided, but I'm really liking the sound of the bling-bling!!!! :biggrin1:

Good Morning All,

...

Cherybomb- I love your question about rewards. Ok, here goes. Once I lose almost all my weight, I plan to get a tattoo acrossed the bottom of back so when I wear my cute LITTLE low rider jeans and my SMALL shirt, you can see it:heh:. Also, I'd love to get my belly button pierced. Yeah, I know. I'll be 35 on Sunday, but I feel I may revert back to 15 after this surgery. Just some fun things I always imagined myself doing if I had ever lost the weight, at a younger age. But I still think I'm going to do it. During the losing stage, I think just being able to reward myself with new clothes every 3 months will be a reward in itself.:clap2:

I love your reward idea!!! You are too funny ("...LITTLE low rider jeans and my SMALL shirt..."). I've always wanted to do the lower back tattoo, too...hmm...maybe I have an additional long-term reward to go along w/my bling-bling...:biggrin1:

Boy, this group is growing. Welcome to Malaura, Neefam, Dini, Bobbertsmom, & Snaggletooth!

Breadlady, thanks for the review. I am a reader, too, and had look at those books on Amazon. After reading the reviews, I figured I had already learned everything in the books for her and WLS for Dummies. I look forward to hearing your review of the 2 cookbooks. I really would like to get one.

Cherry,

I am getting a massage every 10 lbs. It was going to be every 25lb but, as a friend pointed out, I would be saving so much money from food and I deserve it. I love the idea of a bling-bling when I reach goal. I will have to give some thought to that. If I have PS, I really want by BB pierced, yes even at my age.

Mike, I chose the band for the very same reasons you did. I could have written your message. I hope you continue to hang out with all us women. I look forward to getting to know you and everyone else on the board.

I went to the pulmonologist today and the appt had to be rescheduled to next week. Thats ok though. Met with my MD this weekend (he does a small group with 3-4 pts for teaching and info) and he said all he needed to submit to insurance was the dietician and psychologist's reports and his letter of medical necessity. That should happen sometime in the next week or so.

sunny:)

What are you all doing to prepare yourselves, mentally or physically, for the surgery? Anybody starting to exercise or cut calories (for those not already on liquid diets) or are you "living it up" before the surgery?

I have been sticking to 1600 cals since my first visit to the nutritionist. It hasn't been bad. I have 6 small Protein based meals a day. Now that I am more aware of the colories in my food, I am eating more than I ever had-just healthier food. I have been doing yoga for more than a year so I have kept that up-usually a couple of hours a week. I am also walking about 10-15 miles per week. I have challenged myself to walk 50 miles in June and have done 18.5 so far.

I haven't dieted at all in about 4-5 years because I just gain it back! Now I know I can work with the band to keep the weight off. Part of the reason I am doing this is that I started off having to lose 180 lbs. This is a lot. I have lost 46 pounds and feel so much better already.

I am so happy to be part of this group and look forward to hearing about your progress.

:kiss2:

Bobberts Mom,

Sounds scary whatever happened.

Do you feel comfortable with the surgeon? If so, I think that is the most important part!

Just make sure you keep on top of things :) Be knowledgeable. That is your best bet. Know what you should expect after surgery etc.

Thankfully we have this great website with loads of knowledge from those who have gone this journey before us. The best part is they are happy to share!

All the best to you.

:update:

I am so excited!:whoo:My surgeon's office called today and told me they had an opening for the 19th of THIS month. I am so happy. My July date was really conflicting with many things but I figured if that was when it had to be then I certainly wasn't going to turn it down.

Thankfully for me an opening came up and I am going in in EIGHT days!

YIKES! I have some shopping to do and soon. Gotta go to Walmart and buy my gas-x, liquid tylenol, etc.

I hope that you all don't mind if I stay with this group even though I am now going to be banded in June. PLEASE CAN I STAY? :)

BreadLady: of course you can stay! :-) Just tell us all about it so we know what's coming our way.

BTW, I love the ideas on the rewards - the massage idea sounds mighty nice to me.

Anybody have the list of things that we should have on hand for post-surgery (like liquid tylenol)? I don't have a list going yet.

Well, I read this thread all of the time as I am to be Banded on July 12th, but today was such a bad day that I needed to vent. You guys are my new best friends, so please let me rattle on a minute.

I work for the Post Office and we are suppose to have 5 clerks. We are down to 3 and management doesn't want to replace the missing 2. I stood at my window for 6 hours this morning with no help and was not given a break, much less given a few minutes to go to the restroom. I ended up working 9 1/2 hours. If ever I knew that I had to do something serious and NOW about my weight problem, it is tonight. My feet and ankles hurt soooooo bad. I have soaked them, and soaked them. Anyway, hopefully I can walk tomorrow and be able to go back to work.

Thanks for listening. I have started my 4 week pre op diet and I hope that that helps me jump start my weight loss, and being so busy at work, I don't have time to think about what I am missing as I have my Protein drink.

You all are great and I will try not to always complain on here and hopefully have better news the next time I write. Have a great Tuesday and please make July get here FAST!

Patti C

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
