Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

If someone asks about my weight loss, I'll tell them about the surgery. After all, you never know if knowing about the surgery could help someone else. Personally, I think that not telling them about the surgery if I was asked what I did seems to further the idea that we should be ashamed of taking "the easy way out." I wouldn't volunteer the information unless I was asked about what I did, but I'll tell anyone who asks.

This is the viewpoint I've been struggling with. I'm a very private person, but I know someone else may benefit from the Band and my experience...I guess I need to push my selfishness (b/c that's what it is) aside...;) By no means am I ashamed. It's just hard for me to talk about s'thing that seems so personal.

Who knows, this may become a new ministry for me...leading people to live healthier, fuller lives.

Chimboree, just about all my riends, family, and co-workers know about the surgery. Everyone thinks it's great and has very supportive, except my mom, but oh well. So I don't think I'll be answering this question a lot, but I would probably tell them. It's only a tool, and we have to do the rest which is real hard work, and I think I would add that in to any response that includes the "I had Lapband surgery".

Dini, I too have a little one, well, he's three, and I won't be able to lift him for weeks. This is going to be hard as he loves piggy back rides, and for mommy to pick him up and cuddle. I think he's old enough to understand that mommy won't be able to do these things for a while, but he'll probably forget and try to jump on me. My mother is keeping him the 2nd night after surgery, the first night I'll be home because I have to spend one night at hospital, so I actually won't see him 48 hours or longer. And I think my MIL is going to keep him for me also. So the first couple of days will be covered for me, when I'll really need a lot of sleep and rest. After that I'll just have to wing it. Being he's a little orlder he can pretty much get himself into his car seat, and other than that I really don't have to lift him much.

Well, I had all my tests and appointments yesterday. The UGI - normal. I had an EKG last month and since that test is good for 6 months they are going to use that reading. The psychologist was nice but the test was looooong. Over 600 question that I had to fill in circles like the SAT tests. The psychologist said that my tests show I don't like or respond well to people who boss me around. I told her I could have saved $295 I paid to come there, all she had to do was ask my husband and he could have told her that was true. She gave me the go ahead.

The nutritionist was nice. We went over the diet 600-800 calories a day. 30 grams of Protein for Breakfast, lunch and dinner.< /p>

Now I'm going to research the Protein Drinks. She gave me a list and some samples. I haven't tried them yet.

Everything is set for July 18th!

Sounds like you are on top of things with your appointments.

I sure wish my Nutritionist had given me samples. I have to do my own sampling (i.e. spend $$$) on things I probably won't even like.

Just keep on doing what they want you to do and you should be good for the 18th. Best of luck to you. ;)

OH my. Did I have the worst case of something last night. I ate a McDonalds hamburger for dinner, and about 20 minutes later, I was so Dizzy I thought I was going to pass out, felt very sick to my stomache, and ended up getting sick for 1 ans 1/2 hours. Think it was food poisning? Mad Cow disease? I have never felt like that. I was in bed at 7:00, and only got up to get sick. Everytime I laid on my back I was dizzy. Anytime I tried to move, I was dizzy. Feel better this morning, and was starving from the lack of having anything in my stomache.

What a night. I was scared. Thought I was headed to the hospital at one pioint.

Purplegirl, hopefully you'll be able to excercise off the pounds and your skin will shrink with it. Since the weight loss is slower with the band, you may not have to have skin removed. You're young so you have the best chance of this.

Wrangler, it seems you're on your way. Glad to hear everything went ok.

We're taking my 3 year old fishing today. Should be eventful. I'll check in with you all this afternoon. Have a great weekend, and HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all your Spouses, Men in your life, etc.

Dini, I've been feeling a lot better today, and eating everything in sight. I feel like I starved myself yesterday. I think as I was getting sick I even emptied out lunch and Breakfast from yesterday.

In a way I could benefit from this awful night I had last night, because I don't see my self going to McDonalds ever again!!!

I'm looking forward to you and breadlady going before me. I want to know every last detail, good and bad, and I'm sure that is what everyone else wants to hear too. Don't sugarcoat anything, because I know it's going to be painful for a while, but hey, no guts, no glory, right!!! We'll still be nice, you know we'll be here for you for anything.

Did everyone see the pic of the new AP band? There is a thread on the first page under this forum that has a picture of it. It's cool. I have my history and physical with my Dr. on Tuesday and I'm going to ask if I'll be getting one. I hope I will. Anyone else know already if they are getting it or the older model?

Purple i feel so bad for you. adam (my other half) told me last night in bed that he told him other. well i went stir crazy. he kept winding me up. in the end he admitted he didn't tell her that he was just trying to get me to loosen up. even just thinking about it now i'm still annoyed. the band is my business and mine only. if i want to share it with someone i will do so! i also come from a family of slim people as does adam and i know there views that you should be able to do it on your own and they'd probably call me silly. a lot of people are ignorant to the band so therefor they think its not a good thing because they dont know the facts.

Lynette i'm not getting a lap band band i'm getting a different one. they dont do the lap-band in ireland . oh its great your feeling better. I promise you and everyone that i will give you every detail. you'll be asking me to stop!!

do you guys have 'Marks & Spencers' store over there?? i treated myself to, Pyjams, slippers new bra (no underwire) no point in getting lots cos i'll be a different size soon. and a track suit for coming home from hospital in. i think i deserve it !!!!!!

Dini,

I received an email about changing something, but I didn't respond. I hoope they keep it just the way we are, at least until we've all been banded. I don't what they are changing, or why, or what is supposed to be for, but I like things just the way we have them. I don't want to go searching elsewhere to find a thread that joins all the other patients getting banded the same month and year that I am.

So Happy Birthday to me!! Yes, number 35:omg:. Wow. It just seems like yesterday it was 21. Time flies. Makes me wish I was Purplegirl, young, 16, and having Lapband. She is going to have a great life real soon. I really wish something like this was around when I was 16. Purplegirl, I'm so jealous of you, and we even share a cool color in common. I love PURPLE!!!

Breadlady, are you hanging in there. ONLY 2 DAYS!!!! :clap2:Keep taking some deep breaths and remember to post as soon as you feel up to it. We'll all want to hear how everything goes. I'll be saying a prayer for a save surgery, and a fast recovery.;)

Wow! What a caring bunch of people we have on this thread! I don't write much, but I sure do read every word written. You have given me so much inspiration and knowledge, so I decided it was time to thank each and everyone of you. I started my 4 week pre-op diet on Thursday and it hasn't been too bad yet, but I know 4 days are a very small part of 4 weeks. I am trying to look ahead for the great things to come and you all make that very possible to do. I pray every day for everyone who are in the same boat as I am. We have all lived through a lot to get to this point and now we getting the opportunity to change our lives in so many ways. Thanks again for possitive attitudes and inspiration. Patti

Well - NO PHONE OR INTERNET Yesterday. I had some severe withdrawal!!!!

Normally I camp in July and August and don't really have internet but I EXPECT it, I know I won't have it. This was aweful. I picked up the phone in the a.m. and it was dead. About an hour later the internet didn't work either. Man, I was going crazy not being able to log on here and see what was going on. :omg:

Well guys, I don't know...I feel better but I still have a lot of gunk coming up from the cold. Tomorrow is my pre-op. We'll see - I am scared they are going to say no :cry . I am trying to rest.

Anyone have any ideas to clear all this phlegm (sp?) out of me before tomorrow? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't read all the other posts on this thread for some reason so I hope all is well with everyone.

BreadLady:sick

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
