Post op liquid diet. A shot of hot sauce hurt?

Recommended Posts

I am 4 days post op and am on my 2 week liquid post op diet. Was wondering if I added a shot of like crystal hot sauce to my broth if that would cause any issues with my new stomach? I love the hit of flavor it adds and was enjoying it on the pre op diet. Beef broth with a couple of squirts of crystal.

I say treat a new sleeve like a new born baby... so, i think hot sauce is a bad idea during post op recovery phase.

Try it very tentatively (little bit will go a long way now)...

all spices and things of that nature is what we need to make things better for us to consume... you can always check with your doctor

You shouldnt have a problem as long as you dont get acid reflux. Try a little and work up to how you like it.

Thanks folks. Especially since I'm haven't been doing so well I am not going to push it. I couldn't even tolerate pudding last night. Thx for your input.

Swanson makes a thai ginger chicken broth - super spicy, super yummy. I have to Water it down a lot. But, I've been eating it and other spiced broths (like broth from seven seas soup) from the start. Just go slow to see how your body tolerates it.

I was told to avoid citrus and spicy food since it might aggravate the sleeve. I too like a bit of spice and I LOVE citrus, but I didn't want to cause any problems.

I tried turkey pepperoni too early on and paid for it. It's wise to eat blander foods for a while. I also put my usual amount of pepper in stew and noticed that my tastes are different. I couldn't handle as much, it was spicy in my mouth and irritated my stomach.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
