This sounds delicious. I am trying to stay away from red meat. I was a vegetarian for about 10 years during my 30's and now just cutting red meat from my diet.

I'll do this with chicken! Thanks for the tip!!!

I'm kind of lazy, so I usually have a bag of bacon Jerky waiting for me at work. I'll also bring some cubed cheese to snack on. I keep a couple of Premier Protein chocolate shakes at work just in case, but haven't eaten one in a while now. Great in the beginning, but I'm just not into shakes.< /p>

I had a banana and a bowl of Cereal at 8:45 after I finished working out. I was starving at 10 so I had a few Ritz crackers with Peanut Butter. It’s 11:45 and I am hungry again.

No wonder you're hungry - where is your Protein load? Protein, protein, protein. Crackers? No.

I have got to do better with the Protein Bobbyswife. I know. :( I am going to start boiling two eggs at night so I can have them for Breakfast. I did eat a Protein Bar and some yogurt though.

Lately I have been alternating between 4 different breakfasts. I wake up at 5:30 am and usually make one of these items eat between 7-8. Its hard for me to eat solid foods before about 11am. I find when I keep it simple I never want to cheat and sneak a doughnut or some sugary iced coffee.

Green Protein smoothie ( Spinach, pineapple spear, Protein power, flaxseed w/crushed ice and little water)

oatmeal w/protein power & raisins. Super thin texture and I add flaxseed

fruit smoothie w/Protein powder. ( Strawberry/Raspberry are my latest favorites)

2 eggs- scrambled w/ spinach and shredded cheese

For those of you adding Protein in your oatmeal, are you just mixing it in your oatmeal w/ your spoon or are you putting the oatmeal & protein in a blender?

I tried adding protein to my cream of wheat and it was a lumpy mess.

The pancake recipe above is not my normal Breakfast. It's a hit the craving and get it out of the way for me.

I use my own Protein powder. I add as much as I like...I also use sugar free maple Syrup

My normal is egg whites. Prosciutto (paper thin Italian bacon) and asparagus. or a light and fit Carmel Apple pie geek yogurt. Has little pieces of apple. So good.

Thanks for this post and for everyone's great ideas! :)

I usually just do a cup of coffee with milk for breakfast cuz my band is tight in the morning. I usually eat around 10-11am.

I do Yogurt parfaits, layered w/ fruit. Can whip up the yogurt with Protein powder before layering to boost Protein.< /p>

I like Mesa Sunrise Cereal. All natural, no preservatives or added sugars, multi-whole grains some of which already have protein in them naturally. Milk = more protein & you can also add Protein Powder to it. I also add fruit & nuts. banana and walnuts taste awesome together and so does blueberries and almonds. Nuts are an awesome source of hi-quality protein. No worries about fat-- it's the GOOD fat!

I buy those little pumpernickel 'cocktail' bread loaves - thin sliced & generously spread Neufchatel cheese (same as cream cheese but with 1/3 the fat) on 2-3 toasted squares of bread and top it with a healthy serving of thin-sliced, smoked salmon with 3 little capers on top. mmmmmm.....

Of course, milk-based Protein shake with added fruits and supplements in the nutria-bullet is quick & easy too.

One thing i love but it has to be made in advance is an 'eggs in a nest'-type dish. It takes awhile (about an hr &1/2 to 2 hrs) to make but is so yummy it's well worth it:

you have to keep stirring through the whole process to help get the steam/ moisture out at each step.

- reduce a big whole onion & minced garlic cloves in 2 tbsp olive oil in a deep frying pan until clear

-add 1lb fresh mushrooms. I like baby portabellas, but any kind works. reduce until liquid is gone

-sweat in either 2lbs fresh spinach or 1lb spinach & 1 lb kale. fold it in gradually as it reduces. reduce until liquid is gone

-add 1cup (recipe calls for heavy cream but use light, 1/2 &1/2, whole milk, 2%, or 1/2c milk product & 1/2c greek yogurt- whatever you feel comfy with but not skim cuz you have to reduce this until thick & not runny)

- salt, pepper & nutmeg to taste

- pour all this into a baking dish

-use teaspoons to divide the mushroom / spinach mixture to create 12 "nests"

- crack a dozen eggs to fill the nests. it's ok if they run over the nests. Just make sure your baking dish is around 2-3" deep

- bake in pre-heated, 425degree oven for 15-17 min. varies according to taste and oven variations

-take out of oven & grate parmesan cheese over the whole thing let stand a min or two to melt.

- divide the eggs in nests into 12 individual servings.

YUM-O!

I put one egg in nest into small storage containers for individual servings to heat or grab-n-go for later.

Usually 1 of these is plenty for breakfast. Can do 1-2 for dinner, depending on what else you serve with it.

prosciutto is actually paper thin Italian ham, the best being Prosciutto di Parma

panchetta is Italian bacon

Being Italian I found it to be my sworn duty to offer the slight correction! lol :)

Both are very delicious! Thanks for your reply. There are a lot of great posts here and many, many recipes that I will be trying in the near future. Have a good day!

It's funny you are all mentioning prosciutto. It became a craving of mine just this week and I've had some the last 2 days. Gonna make prosciutto cream cheese roll ups for breakfast this morning. ????

Love all the great ideas!

I forgot to add to my comment that I put some coconut manna in my oatmeal and stevia along with the Protein powder and a little milk.

I use the GENEPRO unflavored Protein Powder that I order from Amazon. It is a smaller scoop for 30 grams of Protein and the powder is finely ground. It does add a slight milk like taste to what you put it in but that works well with oatmeal. You could add walnuts for crunch, chia seeds for crunch etc.

Have a good one everybody,

Kathleen

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
