The things I miss about being fat!

@@green*eyed*girl I totally agree, I feel like when I was 100 lbs heavier I was much stronger and I could do a whole lot more lifting than I can now. but that also comes with weight training, you can get that back you have to work out with the free weights and use those muscles. It's going to be hard at first, but you will get it, and soon you will be just as strong as before if not stronger cause the weight you lost will help you move better and lift more. I am not saying lift to become some super steroid body builder but you need those muscles to keep your body strong, so use what you got and strengthen as much as you can!!! Good luck!!!

I am still getting used to this new body of mine. But I can tell you I don't miss a damn thing. Not one damn thing.

@@Susan33, I wish I could say you won't loose your boobs, but it all depends on the person? How people loose weight. I know in my past I had never lost weight in my boobs before and so when I had my surgery I was hoping the same thing, and I lost my boobs, like I really didn't have big ones to start with, but I feel like I have none now? So just know boobs can be replaced if you really want, but losing the weight is so much better? lol, I am so happy that I have now lost 100 lbs and I am almost to my goal weight and I am so happy to be here. I wouldn't change anything about my journey, but I would change somethings about my body now that I have lost all this weight and that is something that can be dealt with when I get to my goal weight!!! Good luck!!!

Pup thanks for your reply. Me myself have always had big boobs. Even when I was skinnier. But I would rather be skinny with no boobs then fat with them. It's all about my health.

I'm happy for the way it's working out for you.I just got back from my dr appt. Kinda have great news. Surgeon said results from the upper surgery thing I got done a few days ago came back normal. I guess insurance has changed on what I needed to do for approval of gb. He said now they are gonna fax all the info to insurance company and wait for approval. Said it can take up to a week and when it is approved the date will be set for the start of a new enjoyable life. I'm so excited.

I hope your weight loss continues going good for you. Keep us all posted

@@green*eyed*girl I know EXACTLY how you feel! I constantly get comments at work about my weight loss transformation. It's like now the men suddenly know you exisist when before they keep their eyes averted like being fat was contagious! I swear I daydream of chocolate and Pasta daily! I guess the only difference with me is that I have always been a stomach sleeper, so it's actually more comfortable for me now. Especially with my tempurpedic bed!

The skin issues REALLY suck! I am researching plastic surgeons and procedures now!

I am 3 weeks out and I am SO happy to have had WLS but everyday is a true challenge. I for sure miss the big bowls of Pasta and Asian food. But I also miss having a normal conversation where my weight loss, changes or surgery weren't ALWAYS the subject.

I think the only thing I miss at nearly 4 months out is dinner with my husband, a stay home dinner date with Chinese food and a movie... or going to a restaurant and splitting an appetizer and having an alcoholic beverage after a long week.... but for the weight loss? I'll get through it LOL

I don't miss a lot about being 80 pounds heavier. I do miss having a wrinkle free neck. I can still sleep on my side, in fact I like to sprawl, so I do that even better.

I feel completely the same. :( And my butt bones hurt after sitting a while.

I miss the Club Lulu from Jimmy John's on wheat once or twice a week too. :'(

Oh @@Wendyfm I know what you mean, I do not miss the pounds from my bones and joints, I move faster and easier now, life is good again! :) But all these changes are hard sometimes, things happened so fast, one day I am fat, 5-6 months later brand new body, wow, lot to digest.

And the neck, oh Lord, that is a problem, big time. I am not planning to have any plastic surgery. I am saggy here and there but nothing major, I can deal with a bit of lose skin. But my neck is horrid. I was hiding behind scarfs all winter long but summer is coming and I am horrified. My neck is the only area that I might will consider to get some extra help... not neck lift (is there such thing even???) but some toning I guess... :/

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
