When I was on full liquids, my doc's only restriction was that it couldn't contain any particles or chunks. If it would go through a strainer, then it was fine. It took a lot of persistence, but I finally got that piece of prime rib through the strainer!!!!! :-P

Ditto to the above. My surgeon said if it passes through a straw it's OK for liquids stage. I couldn't stand anything sweet postop so I never had any Jello or Popsicles, etc. I went for savory and made sure everything I drank had Protein in it. I did drink Protein shakes but diluted with milk to cut the sweetness. My nut really encouraged drinkable yogurt starting day 4 for the Protein and to help replace normal flora disrupted by surgery. I added unflavored Protein powder to every Soup and broth I could find. Anything with chunks I blended and strained. Artificial sweeteners also upset my sleeve, so I never bothered with the sugar-free thing. I drank Decaf herbal teas, regular Vitamin Water, life Water, pedalyte, and 100% fruit juices (all diluted 1/2 and 1/2 with water because they all tasted too sweet)

Good luck..hang in there you will be eating normal again soon.

Just wondering why, at this crucial stage of healing, are you bothering with so many things with no nutritional value? Hopefully all the Jello, popscicles, ice cream and fudgsicles are just treats for after you've already gotten in all of your Water, Protein and Vitamins.

If your tummy can tolerate it, V8 is another thing I drank to help with nutrients at that stage. And there are a lot of good healthy liquid ideas in the food and nutrition subforum on here.

Having SF Popsicles, Jello, crystal lite is what I was told to eat/drink to get my fluids in. Nutritional value or not, I would be severely dehydrated without them.

I was told the same. I was told to only concentrate on getting my fluids and Protein in. Creamy Soups, and broths were also included on my list, but other than that, I've been in the same boat. Thank The Lord I start pureeds tomorrow!

Thank you for the strainer idea. I think I've been hurting myself by not making sure my Soups can go through a strainer!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
