Lap band removal

Recommended Posts

Hello. Yesterday I had my lap band removed. I had it placed 8 years ago and was very successful. Lost a bit over 100 lbs. However it slipped and had to have it removed. I know day 2 is usually the hardest but am very sore and have a lot of shoulder pain. If you have gone through this and can let me know how it went for you I would really appreciate it. Is the shoulder pain normal? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I haven't had surgery yet, but my girlfriend said that she had pretty severe shoulder and chest pain following surgery as a result of the gas that they use to enlarge your abdomen during surgery. They blow you up so they have more room to work with the laproscopic tools and camera.

The gas has nowhere to go and it 'rises' inside of your body, causing pain in the upper part of your body. Lying down may help a little......

Hope you feel better soon!

Banded 2 weeks ago and ended up with a stiff neck. Doc said that and shoulder pain was normal due to the gas they use. Travels up inside your body.

I also had extreme shoulder pain free my band was put in. It is from

the gas they use and will go but it sure is painful. My band is being removed after 10 years in the next 2 months and I anticipate the same pain. I hope it passes quickly for you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
