food after adjustment

Recommended Posts

Ive not been on here for a long time had a fill nearly 5 years ago, then 2 pregnancies. Went to see the consultant 3 days ago and by my suprise he did an adjustment there and then, taking me from 5.4 to 6.2 mls.

Since then ive only consumed 400-500 calories over 72 hours and have a bad headache. I cant remember what sort of calories i was consuming after my last fill but sure it wasnt that low. Ive now got 2 boys to look after, one of which is disabled so how am i meant to keep my energy up?

Thanks

Keisha, don't they advise you how to handle the first few days after a fill? I ask because I'm always put on liquids for 48 hours and it's easy to get my calories in with Soups and Protein Shakes for two days. Congrats on getting back into contact with your doc. I'd call the doctor's office before they leave for the weekend and get some guidance. Good luck and welcome back!

After my fills I was told a liquid diet for the first 24 hours. You could use Protein drinks to keep up if you are having trouble with solid foods. Sometimes the band is a bit more restrictive for the first week or two after an adjustment--perhaps the stomach lining is irritated and swells?

You could also try going to four meals a day, four hours apart. That way you can eat less, and still have the needed Protein and calorie intake.

They advised 24 hours liquids and then 3meals of puree (2-3tbsps) and 2 Snacks of 200ml liquid (skimmed milk or fruit smoothee) for 2 weeks as well as 2 litres of Water each day.

I just cant remember it being this difficult first time aroumd, however my lifestyle is completely different now

Having babies definitely makes bandster rules harder! Eating slowly and concentrating on my bite sizes is super tough with an 18 month old! If you are feeling depleted don't be afraid to add in some extra protien for the energy!

I was told Clear Liquids first 1-2 days, then light Soups for a day or two, then Protein shakes & soft foods like cottage cheese, then soft foods like eggs, then ease back to whole foods slowly & chew until mush forever more.

If I felt like something was 'sticking' then back off to the previous phase for another day or two.

Wait, you aren't supposed to eat food after an adjustment?? They didn't tell me this!! No wonder I feel a little tight!!! So every time you guys have a fill you take it easy for a few days? I'm coming back from an emptied band after 4 years.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
