I've been spending a lot of time in Rants & Raves since I joined LBT, partly because it's fun, but also because for the most part it's very GLBT friendly. Unless I haven't looked in the right place, I don't think there's a support thread for us, so I decided to start one!

A little about me. I'm Eddie & I'm a 42-year-old Gay man. I have a partner of just over nine years (henceforth referred to as DH), a 17-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter. DH and I are stupid. Don't believe me, just ask our kids. DH has hypothyroidism and had not been able to lose any weight after his thyroid "went nuts" several years ago. I've just been overweight all my life. He was banded on 2/21/07 and I'm getting mine next Wednesday (5/16). I can't wait!

Anyway, I would love to hear from all the GLBT folks out there. Hopefully this can be a place for us to freely discuss our unique issues and get support we may not be able to get elsewhere.

just thought i'd take a min for a quick update....

had my first fill this morning! it went great. didnt feel it at all! daddy went with me. he didnt want me to go alone. hehehe.

so i had lost 20 lbs as of oct 23... well i have had no restriction since then... and as of today... i only gained 2 lbs back! so i'm still down 18! woo hoo. hopefully i'm on my way down now!

Well, I guess I'm probably a 5.9. There was that little hetero marriage thing, but that was definitely not because of any sexual attraction. Everything happens for a reason, though. I wouldn't have my kids otherwise.

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? I did eat a little too much, but that's certainly relative now. Overeating these days means two bites too much, not two plates too much!! The only bad part is that I couldn't fill up on turkey and just nibble at the sides like I had planned (my sister did the turkey and it was pretty dry so I couldn't eat it - thank goodness she doesn't ever visit this site!).

Mine went pretty well, I cooked a turkey and kept a close eye on it so it did not dry out, it was good. I had a few bites and green beans that was about it for me. Later had a sliver of pie minus the crust. I got on the scale this morning and was surprised that I was down 3 lbs. I am about 6 lbs away from my goal. Yeah. Hope everyone else had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Back at work, this stinks after having 5 days off, kind of hard getting back into the swing of things, but glade to be back I worked to hard at home, I needed the rest. lol

Our kitchen is being remolded and I needed to move electrical lines around and add lines, I hate crawling around the attic with all of the insulation up there, It would not be so bad if it was just the roll out kind but no it is the stuff that was blown in, gets all over the place.

So, who's done with their holiday shopping?? :heh:

We went to the doctor before thankgivings and I gained a couple of pounds but the doctors office did not record the last weigh in when I had the first fill since it was not done at the office. We both had a fill today. I got 1 cc so now Iam up to 2 cc. I hope that this will last a lot longer than the first one. She got 1 cc also. She is up to 3 cc. So will see what happens now. on liquids today, soft foods on Tuesday and regular on Wed. We go back on Jan 7th, 08 and might get a fill the following week. He wants to see us now every 6-8 weeks and then will look at getting a fill. Glad to see that everyone had a good Turkery Day. Now were ready for Christams.

So , I'm still pondering the rating thing, little slow here on more than one front! I would like to think I'm a very strong 5.9 for the same reasons as Eddie, the marriage thing. But I stayed a bit too long, even though I my reasoning was for the kids. So, maybe it's closer to a 5 . Does it count that he is now in process to be a she and has changed his, or rather, her name legally and all that goes with it??? I think it must have been the (very well hidden) fem qualities that I was attracted to! However, there is one of the male professional dancers on "dancing with the stars that I do find very Hot !!! very cute tight buns and knows how to work them! But, I do find all the women VERY sizziling HOT HOT HOT, so I'm not worried

As for wt. well....I'm not moving either which is why I haven't signed in in a while, I just feel like a dud. I'm not gaining but dammmm.... I do seem to have the maintaince thing down. I cancled my fill nov. 19 and reschuled for Dec. 10. I just didn't want any unforseen problems at the table on thanksgiving. I haven't told my family about the band and don't intend to. Did have a nice dinner, didn't feel much restriction.

I'm getting a little discouraged with my insurance. it covered most of the surgery,only a fairly small deductable. But now they are sending bills for all kinds of other services. they call the fills "out patient surgery" which has a hefty deductable and I got nailed for the extensive blood work they ordered on my last fill. never got a bill for blood work before. So, not wanting to go back!!! anyone else getting them? I got blue cross, I don't 'get it' .:pray2:

I hope everyone had a great weekend w/ fam and friends. Susanne's mom came in and brought a shit load of food...most of which I Pb'd. I am getting a slight unfill Wed. I can't stand it anymore...I can't eat anything that is not a chip or is soft and mushie. I got stuck on tuna salad today, but was able to eat nachos...that is why I haven't lost much. Now, I think my tummy is swollen and I am toooooo tight. PB'ing on turkey burger is just wrong!

I've been sooo busy w/ work and teaching my online classes. I have a question...I missed something, but I don't get the rating system???? Forgive me...I am slow. What is it? As to how "gay" we are??? Am I right? My shrink has some great information on "gayness".

The rating system is like a Kinsey thing. How gay are you? For pity's sake, I don't get it. Being gay is more than how you have sex. The political and social ramifications go a long way too. People think I'm straight if they look at me. So I present as het but talk, socialize and screw as homo????

But using that scale only as a measures what makes you hot and bothered and that's how I read that scale, I'm a freaking 6. And only other gay girls get me there. Looking at straight girls or getting busy with them, they might as well be men. Because my interest is zero.

We are all very good. Thanks for asking. A is in San Jose right now for work. How close to you is that? I could get a map...we are talking about taking a long weekend and going there together, she'll work some but play otherwise.

We are still going to Vegas but every other lap band talk person who said they would go has backed out or disappeared. I know it was long ago we talked about it so I don't blame them. So the theme for our weekend there has shifted form LBT to having a good time, just us. At anyrate, we'll be there in January, think you might drive up?
