Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters

I've been spending a lot of time in Rants & Raves since I joined LBT, partly because it's fun, but also because for the most part it's very GLBT friendly. Unless I haven't looked in the right place, I don't think there's a support thread for us, so I decided to start one!

A little about me. I'm Eddie & I'm a 42-year-old Gay man. I have a partner of just over nine years (henceforth referred to as DH), a 17-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter. DH and I are stupid. Don't believe me, just ask our kids. DH has hypothyroidism and had not been able to lose any weight after his thyroid "went nuts" several years ago. I've just been overweight all my life. He was banded on 2/21/07 and I'm getting mine next Wednesday (5/16). I can't wait!

Anyway, I would love to hear from all the GLBT folks out there. Hopefully this can be a place for us to freely discuss our unique issues and get support we may not be able to get elsewhere.

I just realized that it's been some time since I've seen a post, you OK? or just having too much real time life to be smoozing around here? I hope that is the case! In the event you are "checking in" , and are just TOO busy, hope you have a great Christmas and New Year! , and that goes out to the rest of the "family" too ;) Cheers!

Welcome Ackmaui, Hold off on that coke, the desire will pass, I have not drank a coke in two years, I have had a sip of one and now they taste nasty, I can not believe that I use to live for a diet coke.

Any way, everyone have a happy holidays, me and my sweetie are taking off for small trip to see g-kids that we see only a few times during the year, I cant wait to see them, we got them the WII, I love mine, I hope they love it as much as I love mine.

Ok all take care and be Safe.

I had a huge craving for Diet Coke and now it is gone. I was supposed to have my two week post-op on Dec 25th but oops its Xmas so now the doctor can't see me until Jan 10. I am kinda bumming because it means an extra 10 days on only liquids. But I try to take it one day at a time.

WII is also called a Wii or WEE, it's a new gaming system out on the market and a very hot item under the christmas tree.

Ackmaui, can you call them about switching you to mushies, considering the time frame?

Welcome to the group ackmaui!

Dorr, I agree with Lucy, you look awesome and I can't imagine how you will look after the surgery! The guys will be knocking down your door.

It is almost that time again! The only good thing about Christmas is all the walking we get to do while shopping for stuff. The only weird thing is I have people stare at me now, which feels really weird because I am used to being the fat kid. Anyways, I think I have finally plateaued. I can't believe how well things have gone so far. I need to get my ass in gear after the holidays and start working out.

How are ya'll doing? Is everyone done with their shopping?

Hi Ackmaui! Once you give up Diet Coke for a while you won't want it anymore. I seriously think there are addictive chemicals put in there -- for the year prior my surgery I lived on diet coke -- now that I don't drink it, I find even the smell of it to gross me out.

Thankfully Christmas is almost here and the traffic in Miami will get back to normal -- or, as normal as it ever will be. But it's nice to have some time off to be at home with my husband and share some love and gifts. Happy Holidays to everyone.

I hope you DO at least call him or even his nurse. I can't believe he would expect you to stay on liquids through christmas just because they are closed! My Dr./ asst. sent me home with instructions to start the muchies before my post op. apt. I should think that if all feels well you should be able to start SLOWLY before you see him. BUT Do call his office! Good Luck and have a good holiday regardless.;)

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I am going to call the office but I am not sure if anyone is going to be there since it will be Xmas Eve. I am over my craving of Diet Coke. I don't even crave it anymore. I would however kill my mother for a Burger King doublecheeseburger!!!! However I am lucky because I live on a tiny island with no fast food restaurants. But OMG those cravings come out of the blue. I hope everyone has a great holiday.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE FAMILY!!! I WISH YOU ALL A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY FILLED W/ LAUGHTER, FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

HO HO HO

((JULI))

XOXOXOXOX
