Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters

I've been spending a lot of time in Rants & Raves since I joined LBT, partly because it's fun, but also because for the most part it's very GLBT friendly. Unless I haven't looked in the right place, I don't think there's a support thread for us, so I decided to start one!

A little about me. I'm Eddie & I'm a 42-year-old Gay man. I have a partner of just over nine years (henceforth referred to as DH), a 17-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter. DH and I are stupid. Don't believe me, just ask our kids. DH has hypothyroidism and had not been able to lose any weight after his thyroid "went nuts" several years ago. I've just been overweight all my life. He was banded on 2/21/07 and I'm getting mine next Wednesday (5/16). I can't wait!

Anyway, I would love to hear from all the GLBT folks out there. Hopefully this can be a place for us to freely discuss our unique issues and get support we may not be able to get elsewhere.

Ok, that's too weird. I looked on here late last night and my post was there, now it's not. WTF? Obviously, I don't get an e-mail about my own post so I can't re-post it...

Cheri

Click on my ticker and it will take you to tickerfactory.com.

Follow the directions, pick a marker, pick a line, put in your info.

The it will give you different kinds of html laungage lines, the first one says for b.b. (for bulletin boards) copy that.

Come back to LBT and up top at CP User you can modify your signature. Paste it in there.

HTH

Thanks Juli, it was the copy/paste thing I had trouble with, but I think I got it!!!:biggrin1: and now I know how I did it thanks to you! Hope you are having a great weekend.

Eddie, know what else is weird? just since yesterday, everytime I click the "post reply" when I'm finished, instead of keeping me here at the site, my screen says "done" but is totally a blank white screen and I have to start over from my email to get back! WTF???:speechles any thoughts?

Eddie ! You two sound so much like us !! I totally feel for you & your situation. Kisses & huges sent your way ! Here's my gripe - you are getting your fill nearly a month before me & i was banded the day before you !!!!! HATE YOU !! (love ya really xx)

I saw the doc last week & he agreed to bring my fill date forward 1 week.... but then I found out that he has no space available any earlier so my first fill is still July 18 !!! ARGHHHHHHH

Am like you - completely healed & eating anything that's not moving. !!!

He says not to stress about any weight that i put on - that's easy for him to say. I've got 1 month to survive - I find it ok during the days at work but at night at home & on the weekends are hard not to eat rubbish or too much.

Have you had a drink yet ? Had a few glasses of wine on Friday night & a couple on Saturday night. Enjoying the wine very much & haven't missed the beer at all surprisingly .

Have a great week everyone. XX

Well, it's official. Unlike Friday at the airport, I experienced my first actual PB yesterday. I made pancakes and scrambled eggs and had gotten about three bites of pancakes with Peanut Butter and syrup down. It just plain got stuck! Very odd since I had eaten some on Saturday morning with no problem at all. Yeah, I know, I shouldn't have been eating pancakes at all, but when we're in the motorhome that's our "traditional" Breakfast. I should have just stuck (pun intended) to the eggs. At any rate, none of the pancakes stayed down. puke.gif I won't be making that mistake again anytime soon...

As for Sean and me, everything's back to normal! All in all it was a good weekend. The Georgia Aquarium wasn't quite what I was expecting, but it was fun nonetheless. And I got early b'day presents from Sean and the kids...a blue IPod Nano from Sean, accessories from Kaitie and a DVD of "The Omen" from Andrew. A somewhat autobiographical gift! Hey, he admitted it!

Ok, here's my post from Friday that went MIA. Take into consideration that it was written three days ago. Thanks Juli for e-mailing it to me so I could re-post it!

I'm sitting here in Jax Int'l Airport waiting for my flight to Atlanta,

which departs at 7:27 (it's 6:10 right now) so I figured I would post a

quick update to my domestic drama. straight.gif Sean and I have talked a

couple more times, but the cell coverage is horrible where he and the

kids are, so it? been hard to have much of a discussion. Our argument

is still not 100% resolved, but we're ok. We've pretty much agreed to

disagree...we'll talk more this weekend - I would really like more of a

resolution. Cheri, is your and your wife's blowout resolved?

Anyway, my band did not set off any alarms going through security. clap2.gif

I've heard so many stories about people setting off the metal

detectors, so I was ready to whip out my Inamed card! One thing I have

discovered while sitting here is that ciabata bread, no matter how

crusty it

may be is NOT compatible with my band! puke.gifI didn't PB, but it was a close call. I hadn't eaten anything since about noon and was getting hungry. The best thing I could find here in the airport was a little sandwich shop. I put all the ham and cheese on one half of one slice of the bread (it was cut in half already) and took a few bites. Bad idea! Oh well, live and learn.

BTW, while I don't have any GLBT-friendly destinations to add to the

list, I can start a new list of UNfriendly cities...Jacksonville will

be at the top of that one! Our GLBT community here tries so hard to exert

political clout, but Jax is pretty much run by downtown's First Baptist

Church. It's one of the largest churches in the country. In fact, until

Jacksonville built their new stadium a few years ago, 1st Baptist possessed the largest seating capacity in NE Florida! They also own about 1/3 of downtown and many City Council members are !st Baptist members.

Hell, they even have a working lighthouse on the corner of one of their

parking garages! It used to keep residents for miles around awake at

night until they got so many complaints they finally decided to turn it

off at 10 pm. Seriously. It's so bad that Sean started referring to it as "Six Flags Over Jesus!!" huytsao.gif Ok, now that I'm going to hell...

Has anyone heard from Yenken? She hasn't posted anything in quite a while.

Does everyone have plans for the weekend? How about all you LD Lesbians (Yenken included)? Do you get to see your honies??

Lucy, how are you feeling? Update please! happy.gif

We're going to the Georgia Aquarium tomorrow. Has anyone been? We've been to the Florida Aquarium (in Tampa - it sucks, don't waste your money), the National Aquarium (not bad, but nothing spectacular either) and the South Carolina Aquarium (in Charleston - it's awesome!). We've heard a lot about GA, so we're really looking forward to going.

Well, it's now 6:45 and I think I've just about covered every topic imaginable. It's late in the day and my ADHD is starting to show.

BTW, here's an ADHD joke for you all: How many people with ADHD does it

take to change a light bulb??

Wanna ride a bike? HAHAHA!! laugh.gif

I have been reading this thread and its great. Juils I also was born and Raised in Cincinnati and lived in Columbus, Ohio. I have been looking into the band for a while now. My wife and I are going to do this together and we have a doctors apt. in July to do all the test and psy. and after that go to the doctor and then have him submit the paper work. We have United Health Care and looks like it should go allright.

I understand the LDR stuff. Iam in St. Louis and travel back and forth each week. Been doing this for awhile now.

Well Hi There!

In which state are you having the banding done? Is your honey here in Columbus still? If you are getting it done here, then the question is where? :)

I'll wait to hear your answer to the many questions above before I start with opinions about the different places...

So nice to meet you, Chris!

Hey guys!!

I've been reading through all the posts(okay, I admit, I gave up around page 6) and just thought I'd say hi!

So...HI!

I'm a recent bander, and I'm really glad to see this thread! I've allways been apart of GLBT's. I was part of the forming of a gsa(gay/straight alliance) and my highschool...and attend the Pride community of my University.

I'm pretty young(as you can see) and really looking forward to loosing this weight and starting a new life!

And ooh, I allmost forgot I'm a lesbian..lol

I got a date for my lapband surgery, July 18th! My brother is coming to visit this weekend! Yeah. He is trying to have a baby with his lesbian friend and her wife! I hope it takes this time! If it doesn't he will be coming for my surgery and they will try again at that time. They are going through a clinic, but saves a couple hundred to do it in person. They live here near me in Des Moines. He lives in L.A. I cannot wait until I have a new niece or nephew! He is my only sibling and has no children.

congrats Consafo! hope all is well. you are so lucky to be where you are and know who you are "this young" and be able to change your life with the band. you got a whole life time of outfits and "out" everything ahead of you. things were not so when I was 19! but, I making up for lost time now!!!;)

Dee, Mine are burps! at least hick-ups are kinda cute! I sound like I just crawled out of a bar room, and I hate beer! (love mud slides, think that would go down? just kiddin....)

I'm SOooo glad all is well with you two love birds, Eddie.
