I am so angry at myself

Recommended Posts

You know something. You can ask them if any of them even have one inkling of what you fight with. How you are starting from the ground up to rebuild yourself. Ask the thin and always been thin folks on your team if they have any knowledge about how you are fighting and struggling to win this war of obesity.

Then as long as you don't gain. Which you probably haven't, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and go forward. It will never be over for us. We will work at it a long time. It is a journey not a sprint!

No one really gets it until they have to battle it like us...We really have a battle on our hands. But most of us win in because we never see a mistake as the finish line and you can't either. Okay hun!

I think your doctor was too hard on you at your last weigh in. I wonder how many patients don't have emotional issues tied into their weight gain. I know I do. I also know that I can gain 5 lbs in Water weight in a single day.

Please don't beat yourself up -- you obviously are making some great decisions to move in the right direction to lose your excess weight as most of us here on these boards are doing. I'm sure a lot of people have slipped on their diets along the way. I have too. Starvation is a quick way to lose headway on your diet though, because after the starvation you'll be eating like crazy after your weigh in. Be honest, even if it means a temporary postponement of your surgery. And be sure to tell them their criticisms of you at your last weigh in hurt your feelings and led to the gain.

Bariatric surgery is not the easy way out as some people may think---and those of us who have elected this surgery know we have a lifetime of changes we have to make to reach our goals and stay healthy. We are all at different points (pre and post-operatively).

Good luck, and hope all goes well with your appointments. I'm praying for you that your insurance approves you and you have a successful surgery.

Does your doctors office have a support group? Do you have a therapist or counselor? Have you tried OA? Have you been reading about emotional eating? Have you tried punching out your pillow?

This might be a time to explore a variety of resources including this forum (which as you obviously already know is a great place to practice honesty).

Best of luck and keep expressing your feelings!

no need to be angry

just get back on track and do what you need to do as your doctor advised you.

being angry or upset is a waste of your time and energy. so what you binged. who hasnt..anyone with a weight problem has done that...read that again, you binged.so what...

that moment is long gone and never to return. what you can control is the here and now. so pull up your panties, put your gorgeous smile on your face (cause i know you have one), put them shoulders back and make yourself well..

well la-di-da! i did it, i lost 4.5 of the lbs by quasi-fasting yesterday. going to keep my appointment today (3pm EST), and keep the intake low, and with the additional strength of all your words behind me, going to keep my chin up and give them hell if they give me any grief.

i love these forums, and i love every one of you that replied to my post! thank you from the bottom of my heart for the nurturing, supporting, education, and tough love. i'll let you know how i did tomorrow.

xoxoxo,

jess

Don't give up. I just read your blog post. You are 20 pounds better off than you were a year ago. Your tool is still there and it's waiting to be used. Don't give up on yourself !! We are all still here and working this every day. You can succeed. Believe in yourself!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
