SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!

Recommended Posts

I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op. I've lost 13lbs and I've been stalled for 6 days (frustrating). Today I went for a walk with friends that ended up being an hour long. Once I got home, my tummy started hurting again. I've noticed that happens if I overdo it. I really overdid it today, ow! Have to remember to pace myself.

I really hope to start losing again soon. I really try not to weigh myself every day but to no avail.

I was sleeved on 9/24 and I am having terrible food cravings. Is anyone else having trouble with this?

I was sleeved on the same day. What are you craving? What stage are you in? My doctor told me I could progress at my own pace at this point so I'm able to try different things and it's helped reduce my cravings. Definitely found out that I can't eat chicken yet. Too dense and made me feel horrible.

I was sleeved same day. I'm pretty much eating what I want/my body agrees with now. Had some crab last night and I was in heaven! However, I tried a chicken strip today and it did not go over well! The chicken was okay, but the breading tried to kill me!

I have tried chicken, it was very moist and I did okay with it. I have been advancing my diet. I have been craving sweets. :(

MB511--Don't eat while working, that's going to get you in trouble. Make sure you stop and pay attention to what you're putting in your mouth, carefully chewing and swallowing. If your stomach has healed you won't know when you're full until a few minutes later when it's too late.

I was sleeved on 9/8 and have had very few issues. I've felt good, down 27 pounds, walking, light exercise. I never had any issues swallowing or with nausea.

I also have not told anyone but my husband and my grown daughter. I have no intentions of telling them, they can just make an assumption that I'm on a successful diet. No one will see scars at all. My siblings live hours away from me and my best friend lives 600 miles away. It's no one's business if you chose to keep it to yourself.

As for heartburn and reflux, my Dr keeps all his patients on Pepcid or similar for 4 months post surgery. You should ask for an Rx for this, there are plenty of generics that are affordable.

At almost 5 weeks post surgery I've been released to eat most anything as long as I can cut it small and chew well. I had sashimi tonight. Such a treat after all the Protein Shakes and mushiness!

I was sleeved 9/24. My doctor is moving my diet so slow! I have not had any issues with anything I eat. I have to wait 2 more weeks before I can start trying meats. I feel a little lost on what to eat and coming from a dieting mindset, I keep wondering how many calories I should get each day. Right now I average about 750. I lost 25 pounds from preop diet and 1week post op. Now at week 3.5 I have not lost any additional weight. From what I am reading this May be normal, but kind of freaks me out. I worry about eating the right foods through these stages (puréed, soft, the all foods) and how I will ever learn to eat properly again.

I also was sleeved on 9/24. Surgery went well, no pain at all until about day 3 then the shoulder pain, although closer to collarbone pain. Unbearable at first, slowly improving. Seems worst at night and early morning. Lost 18 pounds 12 days after surgery. Down 60 pounds from my heaviest from a few years ago. I am on stage 4 now. Eat 5 small meals a day. chicken, Turkey, and fish seem to be the easiest to digest. Have some problems, stomach sometimes feels like its doing somersault. When I was stage 3, pureed cream Soups, I made cream of broccoli Soup and clam chowder which both puree well and taste really good.

When I get to the phase where I get to eat real foods, I will take my first bites from the the center of the omelet, the best looking piece of shrimp, the most tender of the steak, and the most meaty, delicious of the salmon. My rules. I get the best bites!

How long do stalls usually last? I lost about 10 lbs the first week and nothing for the last two. (Sleeved the 22nd). I'm getting frustrated and starting to wonder if surgery was the right choice for me.

That sounds like gas pain which gasp will help but the best option is walking sorry to say it helps the body absorb the gas. Sometimes a heating pad or massage helps too.

The reason the shoulder hurts is it is a referred pain, the gas they blow us up with during surgery presses on the diaphragm and that is attached to shoulder muscles, I only ever feel it in my left shoulder never my right. They try and get the gas out but usually can't get it all. The gas is the reason the nurses ask you over and over in the hospital are you passing gas then they know your body is absorbing the gas and moving it along.

So after a looonnngggg day yesterday, I ate a little quiche, drank not nearly enough Water, a Protein Shake and walked over four miles in a parking lot I am very tired the muscles at all of my incisions sites are really sore, my neck is spamming slightly and I am on muscle relaxants what I didn't drop out of my pocket I walked hopefully some of my butt off.

So tired and in some pain this morning but not horrid for two and a half weeks out from surgery the good news is we think we raised some serious cash for our neighborhood last year we managed to give 85k back to neighborhood causes schools, parks, homeless shelters, career wardrobe etc. we are hoping we can give more back this year.

Not bad for an event that takes a year to plan, it was pouring rain in a very chilly Philly yesterday and we only have ones day to sell beer, play lots of music, close down five blocks for 30k of people to have a big ole street party.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
