Hi I am scheduled for surgery sometime in October they wanted me to loose 7 pounds before then but I have lost more down to 196 right now and BMI at 33 don't go back to see Dr for 2 weeks Do you think they will decide not to do surgery. Should I stop dieting. I can loose weight just not keep it off. I really need this surgery for my health and at first the doctor wasn't sure he would do it because I am 67. So it's now or never I am getting worried.

They should go from your initial weight. I was told that further weights up until my surgery don't really matter. They should not recalculate your BMI for any real reason besides just to record it.

I agree with @jnfisher. My doctor's office said they go with initial BMI - and the more weight you lose - the better surgery will go. However, everyone's insurance is different - and if I were you, I'd check with my insurance regarding their policy On this just to give you peace of mind (I wouldn't rely only on the statements of the office staff).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
