My surgery was on the 27th. and the first 1-2 days was kinda rough from all the painful soreness and gas inside of me from surgery.but it has gotten better every day. I'm feeling great.. soreness is fading nicely, I feel like the gas is almost out of me, no bowel obstructions, i'm going to the bathroom fine. I'm feeling almost quite normal again. I'm on Clear liquids and it's going down nicely. I do miss chewing and taste of food though. but I just remind myself this isn't forever only temporary. I'm looking forward to pureed stage when these 2 weeks are up. so I can have some nice tuna :D and scrambled eggs..all the nice healthly stuff. anywayss just wanted to do update on everything..oh and as for surgery that was some experience for me.. never had any type of surgery before.. I was very nervous but when the moment came I walked into surgery room braver than ever. didn't even know when I fell asleep and it felt like it was over before I even knew it. only problem was gas and soreness when I woke up which is normal. but everything is going great. and I'm really excited for my new healthy lifestyle. good luck to everyone undergoing and who is already post up! woo :D oh also my Migraines went bye bye my constant hunger always triggered them every single day. so two main problems have been solved. now just waiting for my third..which is losing weight and getting to nice healthly bmi. !

Congratulations! I hope to have my bypass in about a month. Glad to hear everything is going great! That's exciting. I hope I do as well. About the gas, does anything like GasX strips help or it is a different kind of gas?

thanks so much!! and not sure if gas x helps. but nice hot herbal teas will be your best friend! I've been drinking green tea or even lipton. any nice hot herbal tea in general helps to get the gas out of you. it must only be Decaf though (instructed by doctors and nutritionist for our safety of ulcers that can be caused by caffeine). works great for me it will have you burping it all out for sure haha. also must always be hot to get the job done if it gets too cold doesn't work much oh and same goes for your broth it helps also cause it's nice and hot :) . good luck to you!! :D

GasX strips were my best friend for the first few days after surgery. The gas and the drain were the only bad parts in my immediate post-op experience.

Walking and standing as much as possible kept the gas away since 4 hours post op. I walked all through the night and swayed back and forth the whole hospital stay. I only used my bed for the 4 hrs post op, never went back in after. Slept for a couple hours in rocking chair in hospital. They are not kidding when they say walk, walk, walk. It takes about 30 mins to an hour to feel it move in your body. I think that's why I healed so quickly and got released from the hospital exactly 24 hrs after surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
