You all are such great role models for us newbies. Thanks for sharing your celebrations and challenges. I'm post op day 2 and got to take a shower today. Yes! Working at getting my liquids in and taking walks at least every 2 hrs.

I am at four and a half months. this community has been the greatest tool I have next to my sleeve.

you are ahead of me. I was still in the hospital on day 2. I would have much rather been at home.

I think the greatest lesson I have learned here is that everyone has a different journey. I hope yours give see you great satisfaction. I look forward to sharing the journey with you.

How fun to read all the updates. @ -the sleeve was my 1st surgery ever, so I wasn't sure how it would go. I did wonder in the 1st week-"what was I thinking?!?", but not since. A lot of folks say they regret not doing it sooner, but I just feel like this was the right time for me. I'm nearly 7 months out, I can eat most foods- just not a lot. My weight loss has slowed, I hit my 1st real stall in April & finally broke today! Down 91 lbs total from HW, 81 from surgery weight , planning my 1st 5k at the end of this month???? biggest thing for me was getting the energy back took a while & my hair is thinning greatly, but that too will return.

I'm 3 weeks bypass post-op and here's one of my favorite recipes:

Magic Crust Quiche

Ingredients

2 cups 1% Lowfat Milk

1/2 cup All-purpose flour

5 large Eggland’s Best eggs

3 slices Sargento 2% Reduced Fat Pepper Jack cheese slices (cut or torn into small pieces)

3 slices Sargento 2% Reduced Fat Swiss cheese slices (cut or torn into small pieces)

1/2 cup Sargento Sharp Cheddar 2% Reduced Fat Cheese shreds

7 oz. Grilled chicken tenders diced small

1/4 cup Cooked red bell pepper diced small

1/4 cup Cooked Vidalia or sweet onion diced small

Preheat oven to 350˚. In a blender or NutriBullet, mix eggs, milk and flour until blended, season with salt, pepper or whatever you’d like. Pour into a bowl and add all cheeses, cooked veggies and cooked meat. Stir to combine and then pour into an 8”x8” or 9”x9” square glass dish. Bake for 60 minutes. Let stand 5-10 before serving. You can add whatever cheeses, veggies or meats suit your taste. The small amount of flour firms up the sides and bottom making the “magic crust” while saving tons of calories. The Nutrition Facts are based on recipe above. FYI - the heavier meats, ie. ground beef tend to fall to the bottom. Serving size is approximately 2”x2 1/2”

Nutrition Facts

Servings 12

Per serving:

Calories 120

Protein 12g

Fat 5 g

Cholesterol 92 mg

Sodium 128 mg

Potassium 145 mg

Total Carbohydrate 7 g

Sugars 2 g

@@Queen of the crop, congrats on the book, anxious to read it. I have not been on here much, still no date for surgery. My A1C is holding me up. I get it checked again next week and hopefully it will be where it should. I had a glitch in my medicaid also and had to spend time getting it straightened out.

I turned 60 last week, but like you I want to stay in this group and hope everyone wont boot me out :)

Going to try and be on here more, not getting that date has been a struggle and thought of just giving up, but I can't and I won't.

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse but it seems like I am NOT losing as much as I should be. I had my surgery December 31st so I am not quite at the 5 month mark. I have lost 59 pounds, my blood pressure is perfect, my blood sugars R improving and I am using less insulin but I still can only do minimal exercise and physical therapy. I see a lot of people who have lost twice as much in the same amount of time. I know everyone is different but I have to wonder what I could be doing to improve things. I get my Protein and my Water in everyday. I try to fill in with vegetable. I have no Pasta, rice, bread, etc. I have read that women in their fifties have slower metabolism... Do others face this same problem? Is there anything that can be done, short of intense exercise to boost metabolism ?

You have lost 59 pounds I'd say that's great for 5 months. I'm down 50 pounds and my dr is so happy with my results. I have next to no exercise due to my COPD and I'm stalled out at 164! Eating all the right foods , walking as much as I can. Hang in there your doing great I say!

I am in the exact same boat but slightly worse, I have only lost 45 lbs post op (15 preop). I am BEYOND frustrated. My fear before surgery was that my thyroid & age would slow my loss & sadly my fears are coming true. I work out 3 days a week & I eat well. I'm at a loss. I just told my husband to hide the scale cause I am addicted to weighing myself every day. I've lost 3 pds the last 2 months and I'm almost 7 months post. You are definitely not alone.

I guess part of the problem is that all my surgeon ever says is... Well, at least you're going the right direction. Makes me feel like I should be doing a lot better

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
