I subscribe to many You Tube vsg vlogs and enjoy them all but there are not many my age so being here is very helpful.

There is so much good advice here. I had my sleeve the end of Oct-2014 and cannot eat much at all. I wish I could eat part of a hamburger but I am actually not wanting to eat. I feel very empty even when I eat; it is a weird feeling-almost painful For dinner I manage a few bites and in the AM I can tolerate a piece of toast. I can't possibly drink all the Fluid recommended nor can I tolerate meat very well. Talked with the surgeons office and they said it will take time. They said to just eat what I can tolerate for now. Currently having right side pain under my ribs. Do not know what that is about. All this being said, I am glad to have had the surgery and have gone off all HTN drugs. Like you, Sand... I do not exercise much. Busy working, and working. Don't pay attention to the people who write knee-jerk reactions. Most people do that when stressed. Means nothing.

Appreciate you all! Still feels hard to believe that maybe someday I will reach goal!

Uh, right side pain COULD be gallbladder trouble.

Google it.

I had my gallbladder out 4 weeks after VSG surgery.

I have been sleeved for 4 months. There is nothing to be scared about. All the people in the operating room are there for you and to make you comfortable and make you feel good. You are not awake no more them 5 to 10 minutes after they take you to the operating room. Then you go to recovery room where you will wake up. Then to your room. The nurses are all there for you and if you got 1uestions ask them. They are happy to answer any questions you may have even if you think they are stupid. They are there for you. Just remember if you don't follow the instructions your doctor gives you. Like no Water for 30 mins before and after eating foods. You will have dumping if you over eat. Trust me your body will tell you.

I never should have read the "complications" forum. I wonder just how many VSG people actually have leaks, stricture and other problems. Freaked me out!

My dare is March 3rd. I'm almost thinking that I might cancel. It really has me worried. Of course I'm a worrier. It doesn't help matters any.

Do not cancel you will regret it. I am so happy I got the sleeve. The best thing I ever done for myself.

Thank you for the pep talk, I really need the positive feedback. I suffer from anxiety attacks so I try to keep calm but sometimes this fear takes over and consumes me. I go to sleep thinking about it and wake up thinking about it.

I seem to be hung up on the 30 days post op...... is that when people have complications and heart attacks? I want to do this surgery so bad I'm just scared.

I love going to the support groups I go to 2 a month and habe since July, I like being around the positive energy it gives me a boost of confidence for a while then I fall into the anxious mode again. The multiple pages of complications in my pre surgery packet is overwhelming.

My rules for posting online: speak honestly but not rudely. Do not be afraid to apologize. Understand that just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they are attacking you. Acknowledge their opinion, agree to disagree and move on.

As fas as pain & complications; do not be afraid. I'm 4 mths out and had NONE. No gas, no pain. A little soreness, no nausea, no dizziness, nothing. Everything has been insanely easy.

As far as pain and complications go. It is good to be informed of the possibility of it and whether you will except whatever come if it does.

The statistics are small but it does happen. So be informed and move toward your decision. My sister had her surgery on Dec. 4th and she has had no issues at all. So just because someone has complications or pain it does not mean you will.

I went into surgery only knowing that I could die. But you can die from any surgery. All are a risk. But I had no clue about what the complications might be and how it would change my life. No one should go in there blind. And no one should say.. .it will be okay just do it. If you are informed and understand all the possibles. Then the decision is yours, and you will be ready for whatever happens....
