Slower than molasses, but...

Recommended Posts

I definitely get impatient with the rate of my weight loss. I try to remember that I'm 59 years old and have been on synthroid since my thyroid was irradiated years ago (due to uncontrollable Graves Disease.) It has become clear that any white carbs cause me not only to stall, but to actually see a slight gain. However, the reason I chose to post as a success story is that I did the math today and in 2 months I am more than 1/3 of the way to my goal. Now that seems like something to crow about!

Slow and steady wins the race. I think you are doing an incredible job. About 30 pounds in 2 months...that doesn't sound too slow to me. Great work!

fezik23,

Congratulations!

I had my surgery at 48 but I'm VERY fortunate that I had been going to the pool and Water aerobics for years before surgery. I think that REALLY made all the difference in the world.

As others have stated before--this is a marathon and not a sprint. Thirty pounds in two months is better than I would have EVER had done before having this tool.

losing ANY weight is better than what you were doing 2 months ago, right??

"they" say losing "about" 10 pounds per month is "average"/good :)

and you have lost 30 lbs!!! :)

"God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It" :)

keep up the great job :)

Hi I am 67 and will see my surgeon this Thursday to see if he will approve my surgery. He doesn't like to do surgery on people over 65. It is nice to see other people who are older having surgery. If all goes well hope to have surgery in October or Nov

Lindalue...

I will be 63 in November. Am hoping also to have my surgery in October or November. I am totally self-pay so at least I don't have to jump through all the hoops. Lets keep in touch and follow each other. You too Fezi! And Grammy. I get nerves sometimes, but mostly I am so excited and determined to make mine a success story like this one!

I am 60. Still a lot of life ahead of me (I pray). I want to spend the rest of my years healthy and active. We deserve it, no matter what age we are! I have lost 35# and hit my 2 month anniversary. This weight loss included my preop diet too, so looks like that kind of weight loss is normal based on the posts I am reading here.

Haleytrim, I can't figure out how to add friends. Can you point me in the right direction?

I wonder if we could open a thread for those of us that are 55+. Or is there one out there already? I think the age is something that can impact our results. I think it would be fun to compare and learn from others who are in the same bracket. Thoughts?

35 lbs. That's great! I can't wait to see myself lose any amount. I'm getting sleeved on 8/28/14. I've great stuff about this. I understand that this will help me in my efforts to become healthier. I would love to get under 200. Best wishes.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
