Anyone else getting sleeved/ or been as Outpatient?!?

Recommended Posts

It's wondering if anyone has been sleeved as an outpatient. My Dr. , Dr. Umbach, does his sleevers as an out patient procedure. What's it like when you go home? what should I expect?

Thanks everyone for the help :)

My surgeon who has an excellent track record does surgeries in a clinic and are out patient. I had to stay one night due to my sleep apnea but it was a good experience. My view-no reason to stay in hospital with sick people!!!

I am being sleeved as an out patient procedure in September. I'm a little nervous about it, But mainly because I only met my surgeon once and the next time I see him is the day of surgery.

I know someone who's already went through it with my same surgeon and she seems to have survived and be doing well.

I was outpatient but was in the hospital for 23 hours and one overnight stay.

Outpatient isn't what everyone thinks it is

It's different for everyone I guess, I was told I would only be kept over night if something came up that required me to stay in hospital. Otherwise I should only expect to be at the outpatient clinic for 4-5hrs that's including surgery time.

That's who will be doing my sleeve as well! I'd rather recover in my bed than in the hospital. Especially knowing the rates of MRSA and c-diff that happen in our fine healthcare facilities here.

I have total and complete faith in my Dr. I was just curious with all the other "overnight" stay patients. :)

I've had a lot of outpatient procedures and NEVER had to stay longer then 4 hours after. Both laparoscopic surgeries I've had, I had oxygen level issues and was staying over night anyways. But it resulted in an extra nights stay.

Thanks for responding everyone!

I have to agree with being on your own bed... It does feel better... Harder to get up at times but way more comfy!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
