Oh dear I was exactly where you are right now. My pre-surgery diet was not perfect to say the least. It is a time to practice patience not perfection. You sound like you are expecting yourself to be perfect which none of us are. I have to tell you a wonderful benefit of the band. It really really curbs hunger!! It works to keep you from being hungry which is miraculous. It gives you the peace of mind to get through each day without thinking about food all the time. Before the band we don't get through Breakfast before we are dreaming about lunch. And at lunch while eating we start obsessing about what we will eat for dinner. Once you are banded your life does not revolve around food all day. It is a peaceful feeling. Get your band and you will see how easy these food cravings get. Let us know how you are doing.

Well said. I think some people don't understand that many overweight people are truly hungry. You cannot just diet your way out of that. It remains until a large change happens in my opinion. That was a huge gift with the band. No more obsessing thinking planning shopping cooking cleaning. Centered around food. It is just a more everyday small need than focus of my life. I am thankful!!

Hi, I agree with B52 I'm almost a year in now and believe I have done well with my weight loss. I don't see my band as a diet but a tool that is there to help me make the right choices. I now eat what I want but everything is in moderation which I couldn't do before hence I ended up in the position I was in. But also beware the band isn't a magic fix. You do have to work with it still.

I go to the gym twice a week and have done for 6 months now ( god if you had told me 2 years ago I would be doing that I would of laughed in your face lol )If I choose to not eat cake ect I have no doubt I would of reached my goal already :-).

Think of the band as your new best friend that's there to help you and remind you to make the choices that you couldn't make before...I say forgive yourself for what you have done as we all make mistakes, life is about mistakes...that isn't the issue it's about what we learn from them :-)

Feeling pretty good. I expected more pain so that was a pleasant surprise. I am so glad that I did not give up. I have had a few surgeries on back, neck, shoulder, hands...mostly bone surgery and never felt as emotional as I did the morning of this lapband surgery. I cried to my husband about it. I am not a cry baby but it just seemed overwhelming. Thanks for checking on me.

I sure do appreciate y'all and all the words of wisdom. I did not binge I only ate the one piece of cake. I am thankful for that much. I learned a lot when I ate that cake. I had never thought that food could make you feel so good. I will watch for that stress and deal with it another way. I am going to call the dr and tell them I had a slip up and just continue on with the surgery if they say it is okay. I really need to do this for myself and my health.

Thanks again. This forum is the bomb!

I think you were having the last meal syndrome yes it's a real thing , I remember my last meal for 2 days were Taco Bell & Dell Taco, oh and don't forget my favorite ,which I can't eat now & I did try once a few months after being banded it was chili cheese fries, well look up last meal syndrome on the site , you will see it is normal for us to eat something we know might be bad for us but males us feel good, however if we knew how to control our portions and eat right we wouldn't be needing help from our owls and we wouldn't be looking for help if WE could have done it on our own , so don't be discouraged, just make sure you follow what ever pre &post op directions your Doctor gives and says for you to do , good luck ,keep us posted , good luck on what ever journey you choose.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
