RNY - how are you feeling?

Recommended Posts

I need a broader scope of foods that are on the Level II/2 diet. I have seen cream of wheat, baby food, eggs and a few others that are not on the take home list from my nutritionist. I need some food alternatives because I cannot drink shakes anymore and I am tiring of Soup.

What kind of stuff did your nut say you can have? My sample menu for purée and soft foods has things like you mentioned-eggs (which I love along side Gerber peaches lol), cream of wheat or grits (made very thin), yogurt, etc. I was surprised how palatable the Gerber chicken and turkey are (after adding a little salt). Today I had that with Gerber carrots and the noodles from Campbell's chicken noodle soup. All really soft, easy to make and half way decent with regard to taste. I'm not gonna lie, I can't wait for Saturday when I move to soft foods like chicken and veggies in the crockpot, etc, but for now, I make do with the types of foods above. I would love to hear other's soft food suggestions!

I everybody how are you doing today? I have a question. I went to my doctor yesterday and got advanced to the puréed diet from the full liquid diet. I had 2 teaspoons of cottage cheese around noon and then again I had 2 teaspoons of cottage cheese with at dinner at around 6 PM. Everything seemed fine I wasn't too full and I felt comfortable until about 1 AM. I was up all night on the toilet has anyone else had this experience? I haven't eaten anything yet today except my Protein Shake and Water. I'm a little leery any advice?

Lolol yes ma'am! My sample menu from my bariatric team has grits and cream of wheat/rice on the list as long as they are very thin. I've had them with no problem!

When I first moved to purée, I tried yogurt and had the same result. I left milk based products alone (used soy milk instead). Tried again this week and had yogurt with no problem. I guess I just needed to give it a little more time. That may be the same for you or it may be that cottage cheese won't be your friend post op.

Angel! I'm sending my husband to the store for grits right now Yum Yum do you use Instant or regular. I'm in Northerner and I don't know much about them but I know that I love them but I've never made them except for Instant.

Can I add butter to the cream of wheat?

Spray Butter is what my NUT recommends.

Good afternoon. How's everyone today? I hope you're feeling well. Those of us who had surgery on July 8 are now 10 days postop imagine that. I think I'm adjusting. I am having trouble with dairy products so I'm not eating them now I really really was craving cottage cheese but Oboy did not agree with me. My nutritionist says wait a week or two. I am still relying on the Protein Shakes for the majority of my Protein intake. I got a wonderfully ripe peach at the farmers market today and I put about a quarter of it in my shake Yum E. And I walked 2.23 miles today. Hope you guys are all well . Give me an update thanks

I don't think you want that much fat and grits to add butter but if you get the "I can't believe it's not butter" spray it makes it taste pretty good

2.23 miles?!?!?!? Way to go Maime! I was happy that I could make it around my block today, let alone over 2 miles! What's your secret? Are you having any lower back pain? I think mine is coming from me trying to compensate for the sore stomach muscles. If I tried to walk a mile, let alone over two miles, they'd be picking me up off the pavement! Lol

Angel, it takes me two times. Once in the morning I walked just around my block at a pretty slow pace because it took me 30 minutes to go .89 of a mile. Then my good friend who is like my brother went with me and we went to a little lake on the north side of Denver and walked around it. That's a little over a mile so altogether it was 2.3 miles. I could not of done it in one time. And I do walking at fairly slow rate. You know it's interesting my lower back hurts less now than before the surgery when I try to walk I don't know I don't think the 20 pounds made all that much difference. Just do what you can at your own pace. Don't rush. You'll get there I promise

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play, and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
