Looking for successful partner to help me through this!

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I'm looking for someone to help me through this journey! We are new to our area where we live and I'm far from friends and family. So I'm looking for someone that is willing to stay in contact through this journey with me and give me advice / help! I have lots of questions and there are lots of forums here but searching them is time consuming and I don't always have that time. I'd love to have someone who has reached their goal and more so someone who was close to my size when they began. (350lbs) I know my journey is going to be longer than a lot of people and I'd like someone who has been there! If you have the time let me know!

Thanks!

I am two years post op but revision from gastric banding to sleeve. I started at 265. I'm 5'1" and I've lost down to 147, size 4/6. I live in Longview, TX. I'm not sure what your questions are and I didn't start out in the exact same place as you but shoot away if you have questions. I can try to give you my best point of view.

Thank you so much! I'm hoping I will do fine. I think if I can just get past the 4 week liquid stage after surgery I'll be okay. Do you have any tips for different drinks to get the Protein in. I've been on a 2 week liquid diet beforehand and to be honest I'm already sick of it...really sick of it. I think I just need some different things. Sad thing is that I'm a somewhat picky eater so it makes it challenging. So if you have any tips I'm all ears!

The only Protein I can even stomach anymore is the Isopure. It is expensive but I found a local health food store willing to order it by the case for me so I can get 12 bottles for $40. At first I was freaked out by the price so I didn't get them but I became severely Protein deficient because I was only getting in about 40 grams of protein a day. I started having problems with my soft tissue in my feet and I felt lousy and tired all of the time. The Isopure is the best thing I have found. I had some thyroid issues and they kept changing my meds and I started gaining weight despite working out every day. I went to see my surgeon and they fussed me for not getting enough protein. That was the kicker. I drink 2 of the isopure drinks a day, have a coffee in the morning and then have two small meals. I never get hungry anymore and the weight is going down again. Again, I was freaked out about the price but on the other hand I used to spend more than $3.33 on a meal so I guess I can sure pay for something I need to help me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
