I just had my one month revision anniversary and I have to say, I couldn't be happier! I am thrilled to have the band out and that uncomfortable port gone. My recovery has been smooth and I'm feeling great. And, in one month, I've lost 22 lbs! Hurray!

I was one of those people that was terrified of the RNY surgery. I was scared of the surgery, the potential pain, and the adjustment to RNY from being in banded life for so long. However, I have found this recovery to be much easier than when I originally had my band placed. So, I'm jumping for joy and so glad I went through with the revision. :-)

I had my band out 2 days ago and have the same worries that you once had. I'm glad to hear that you're happy with it and you're right, the band was uncomfortable. Thanks for the encouraging post, and keep up the good work

Congrats all! I had my revision on May 7th and I like y'all had the feelings. I am 37 lbs down and 19 away from goal. I did have to have my intestine dilated because it was to small and I was having hard tine getting food thru with solids. After having the scope done to fix, I have had no problems. If i didn't sound bad saying it, I would tell all the pre bandsters not to do the band.

I got a band in 2005. I though it was for me and didn't want to have RNY surgery. Well, I went to my Dr on June 5 and asked two questions. 1. Am I too old (65) (no) 2. can I get a revision. He said yes. This time around I feel like I will have more time to put my full effort into it. As I was working last time. Am starteing to get excited, had an ultra sound on gallbladder, chest exray, ekg, and upper gi last thursday. No surprises.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for posting this. I am 2.5 weeks away from having my revision surgery due to a band slippage and every day I grow more and more scared and start to question my decision. I'm finishing up the last of my pre op tests and will be getting my clearance next week from my PCP.

I'm currently unable to eat almost anything, so I'm basically on a puree/protein shake diet right now and I'm having such a hard time with it. I feel so depressed and trapped. My husband keeps re assuring me that the pain is almost over. However I found that I have some type of blood clotting disorder and have to see a hematologist and I'm a little worried.

So glad everything is going well for you!

If I could give gastric surgery advice, it would be two things: 1) Don't do the band! 2) Don't be afraid of RNY. RNY has turned out to be what I always wanted the band to be. Thanks for all of the kind words, everyone! :-)

I was revised from band to bypass (band removed at same time as I was revised to rny) on May 21,2014 8 weeks ago and I can tell you 1. It's so much easier than the band 2. My recovery was easier than when I was banded 3. I never throw up 4. I can eat and not worry if there is a bathroom nearby if I have to throw up 5. I feel amazing! 6. I am self pay and would do the rny again in a heartbeat but wouldn't do the band again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
