Thank you lollicat. Unfortunately words can be "heard" in a different tone on the Internet. I do wish you the best with both your lapband and TTC journey but right now you need to focus on YOU and getting yourself healthy so that you can have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Why would you go through getting the surgery then try to get pregnant right away? That defeates the purpose and you could do more harm then good since the first 8 weeks is based on healing and recovery alone...

Heather_8.1.14 got a reaction from NWgirl in Still Struggling With Body Image
I can totally relate to this. Although I was banded and then 8 months later became pregnant (wanted to!) and after having my son I still struggle with an extra 20lbs (from baby weight AND post gall bladder problems), so I still sit about 40+lbs away from my goal. However, I found a pair of pants the other day I used to wear, and I held them up and my husband took a picture, and I felt like Jared from the subway commericals. I looked at them and thought, "My God I could put myself in ONE leg". I use that photo as a reminder of how far I've come, not by the mirror that shows me how far I still need to go.
PS, congrats to you and your loss, feel proud hun! You've done an amazing thing with your life, you've IMPROVED it!

Good luck on your weight loss journey and your TTC journey. I was banded on 2.22.10 and got pregnant in October of '10. I was about 8 months post op and had lost 75lbs. My surgon knew ahead of time that one of my main reasons for this sugery was so that I could have a healthy pregnancy. When my husband I felt we were ready, I asked for my surgons "blessing", she told me that she was very proud of my success and my loss, as well as my health conditions improving, and gave me the OK to get pregnant.
So here I am starting my 3rd trimester of pregnancy I am due at the end of July and baby and I are doing great

Dont be nervous!! Be excited I got pregnant 8 months post band and was about 65lbs down. I am currently 19wks and so far my pregnancy has been going well.
The first trimester was a little rough because I had some pretty bad morning sickness, and my band decided to get a death grip on my stomach which made the vomiting that much worse, so at 11wks I had 1.6cc's of Fluid removed and I have been doing muuuch better. I had lost almost 10lbs due to being sick and have gained 6lbs back so far, so Ive pretty much "broke even" so far.
As for my port area, my son is transverse right now and his head is right there, so he likes to headbutt it from time to time, it doesnt hurt, but feels a little weird. I will say because of my port being flipped and angled, mine sticks out like a turkey timer LOL. However everyone is different so its going to vary from one person to another.
Good luck to you and I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy!
