Good morning! NOT!

Recommended Posts

Hubby just went outside to get in his truck to go somewhere and he got over on the next street before noticing that something didn't feel right and he got out to take a look and both of the tires on the right side of the truck have been slashed! He also noted a very long new scratch down that side of the truck.

We just put new tires on the kids car last week and now we have to get two new tires on the truck! The truck just had new tires put on last fall so he is not a happy camper to say the least.

How can people be so destructive to other peoples belongings? I am sure it is kids that have too much time on their hands and are bored because it's summer vacation but surely they can find something more constructive to do! Slashing tires and scratching up paint jobs is not as innocent or inexpensive to fix as egging or tping someones house.

We are not even sure when it happened because he hasn't driven the truck since Thursday or Friday of last week.

I am so frustrated and dare I say it? I am angry also! We have never had anything like this happen here before and we have lived here for almost 10 years.

There's been an epidemic of this kind of vandalism here in the Denver area for the last 2 years. Mostly it's kids who are bored and have pellet guns driving up and down streets shooting out windows.

Although yours sounds like someone has a bone to pick with your hubby? 2 slashed tires and a key job is a little extreme? Hope you have insurance?

So long as you are buying new tires, you may as well buy security cameras. It may not stop vandalism in your neighborhood, but it will give you some piece of mind knowing you would have a good chance of identifying the fool who does that kind of nonsense.

Peace of mind, not piece of mind. Sorry. I can spell, but I just can't type!

2muchfun sorry you all are having trouble with BB guns in your area. Some people just have no respect for other peoples property.

I spoke with some of the neighbors to warn them and see if anyone else has had problems. In the last 2 weeks three other people on our street have also had some problems. The guy across the street last week caught some kids huddled around his neighbors car and scared them off. Luckily for them no damage occurred.

Miss Mac you are so right about peace of mind and a camera. I am looking into that as I don't want to have to replace tires on a weekly basis. Thanks for taking time to reply to my rant. :)

The young ones in our area actually set the car on fire. :-(

Not ours but it's the trend here, they think it's gangs going back and forth between each other.

I wow Kivi97 that is horrible!! I know many have things a lot worse than a couple of slashed tires, I was just so shocked that it happened!

Sorry for your troubles.

Firstly, I would go to the Police and report it. I would then ask the Police if they are familiar with who could be doing it, whether other reports have been made in any other areas and ask them to conduct surveillance on your area for a period of time. I would also ask them if they have any CCTV of the surrounding areas and ask them to analyse it.

Secondly, I would get cameras installed on your property. Discreet ones.

Thirdly, I would sit in wait to see who might be conducting it, find them and batter the ever-living-crap outta them.

No, sorry, the third one was fantasy on your behalf, but even in my head, although vigilantism is illegal and should never be condoned; I'm sure your husband would LOVE to catch the little horrors by the hair and give them a good 'what for'.

Hope you get some resolution and in the meantime, I think hubby and yourself could do with and deserve, a beer - or six :)

Thank you Madam Reverie :) We have contacted the police and there are no CCTVs of any kind around in our subdivision. They said it is probably bored kids and they will (especially on the weekends) do more patrolling up and down our street.

Cameras being installed are a strong possibility at this point. My husband loved your third suggestion but he agrees with you about vigilantism being illegal - so he will not pursue that avenue as this is what the public needs to hear ;)

I am not a drinker but he may have 1 or 6 his next night off call :)

Thank you all for your responses you have made this situation much more bearable. Honestly I am not usually a whiner or complainer but it is nice to finally have somewhere to have a little rant where I know someone will listen and respond, so thank you all!

I think the best thing would be to organize the neighbors to ALL go down to the station and file police reports and meet with the police to find out about increasing surveillance on the streets in the area. If you haven't already, you may want to start a "Neighborhood Watch" program. We have one person on our street with addresses/phone #s/ e-mail addresses. If anyone has a problem or sees anything, they let her know. Then she sends a group e-mail to let all the neighbors know so it becomes known that there is zero tolerance for that crap.

Good luck!

Thanks BeagleLover that is a good idea. I know kids get into mischief. I have three children myself but I hope I have raised mine with more respect for people and their property.

Thanks for your suggestions and I will see what everyone on the street thinks.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
