The first one is on my lower back, so it was a little hard to take a picture without being able to see where I was aiming. The second is a wraparound on my forearm.

love that forearm one!!!

This one is on my upper right back. My 19 y/O brother was killed in August 2012 so this was for him. He loved skating, and always wore a blue Plan B skater tshirt so my tattoo artist incorporated all that plus the angel wings into this broken skateboard heart.

I also have a breast cancer ribbon on my foot, for my grandfather who was diagnosed with it and then I have this ribbon star on my back left shoulder. I was a cutter for 7 years, so I got this when I had gone 5 years since the last time I injured myself. Self injury awareness ribbons are orange in color so I had my artist do 5 ribbons and then fill in the inside to look like a star. Reminds me that I have friends and family who love me, and like stars in the sky, even if I don't always see them, I know they are always there for me!

I really like the tattoo you've got for your brother. My younger brother died July 3, 2012. I was devasted for a long time, but am now in the process of designing his tattoo. I know it's going right over my heart.

I know what you mean...it was quite a rough patch for me- brother died in August 2012, grandfather was diagnosed with cancer the day after my brother died and then my grandfather died 6 weeks later in September and then my grandmother passes away in January... For months I felt like I couldn't go on any more...but people were right, time does help. It doesn't heal, but it helps. I miss him every single day, he was taken off this earth way too young and id trade my own life to have him back on earth if only for a day...but god had other plans for his life, and mine. Sorry for the rambling, but I'm sorry for your loss! Can't wait to see the memorial tattoo :)

So I already have this one. Got it for the first 50 pounds I lost of the 200 in total I lost back in 2004. I have gained about 100 back!!!

Anyone know if I can get a tattoo before surgery? Is there a risk factor I'm missing?

A tattoo should be fine, it's piercings they worry about.

You'd want the tattoo to be healed before surgery though, so you're not itchy and uncomfortable!

@@Sboulie just as @@nerms suggested it's okay to have a tattoo before surgery, just make sure it's at least several weeks prior. I'm having a revision surgery on July 9th and I just had one done. I wanted to make sure it was completely healed and no risk of post infection so I wouldn't affect my surgery date.

I do suggest that considering placement a factor. Get it in a place that as your body shrinks or any possible skin removal surgeries in the very long future (don't automatically say you will never do it, but MANY change their minds as the years go by) won't be affected by your new art piece.

Good luck! Looking forward to seeing your post!

The colors represent a previvor where basically it runs in my family and I have chance of getting breast cancer but am declaring I'm a pre survivor

post-205946-0-14295400-1403701831_thumb.jpg So got my tattoo yesterday and started my 2 week preop today! I feel like my life is starting over. It's such a great feeling! The J and O are my children's initials. Wish me luck to feel this good tomorrow! Lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
