Two Weeks post-op and seem to be tolerating food TOO well! Help, nervous!

Recommended Posts

Soooo, I'm trying not to panic, but I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing or has experienced this. I'm two week post op today and I've been drinking my Protein Shakes, Water, creamy Soups, applesauce, and yogurt and I've been tolerating them fine! Today, my nurse prac told me that I could start to introduce retried Beans to my diet and I did. I are almost 2 ounzes, but didn't feel, that super full sensation that everyone talks about, which. Has me nervous. The only reason I didn't eat more was because that's all I had in my bowl. I'm concerned because my sleeve is 3 ounces, but I haven't felt that full sensation yet. I'm looking at others pics about how they took two bites and were so full, but I'm not having that....I'm wondering is my sleeve really only three ounces? Why am I tolerating so much? I'm nervous and frustrated!

You're doing just fine! Just keep your portions to two ounces so you don't overeat. Don't try to search for that "full" feeling, just stick to the portions you're supposed to. Remember the inside of your stomach is still really numb from being sliced and stapled and will be for the first 6 weeks so you may not feel that restriction yet, but it definitely comes later when you start on chunkies.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much....I was really concerned, but your explanation makes sense. I didn't think about the numbing feeling.

You won't get full on liquids and puréed stuff. It just passes through to quick.

Make sure you follow the liquid rule. None 30 min before and at least 30 after our it will slide through your sleeve

Sounds about right. You may not feel a ton of restriction until you try solid food. It's DIFFERENT and takes a lot longer to pass through your sleeve.

Thank you very much! I'm so glad to hear that it's not abnormal. Especially after seeing so many people at the same point as me and not being able to get pass two teaspoons of a puréed food before feeling so full. Thanks All!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
