Just wondering why you have the tube shortened? My port now sticks out and looks like I have a small cushion under my shirt. It also hurts and the area gets sore from thing pressing on it or rubbing. Have you heard of anything like this before?

Hi Jachut

Yes I couldn't agree with your comments more. I am so much happier now than ever, my endurance is improving and I am happy exercising. I just love to play netball.

I guess I am disappointed I can't break this plateau I have been at the last 4 or 5 months. I know when I have been at this weight before my body shut down, then I got depressed again and gained it all back. At least I know this time I won't put the weight back on.

I have had a few ups and downs with my band over the last three months. I have had to be unfilled, then gradually make my way back then unfilled again. I go for another (minute fill I hope) tomorrow. I also have to reeducate myself with proper chewing again as I have gotten out of the habit, and ended up paying badly for it.

I get it that the next 12 months is going to be harder than usual. If I can lose another 5kg over that period I would be ecstatic. My goal is 70kg but that is only a number. I am pretty comfortable with where I am right now except for my lower body.

The good thing is I don't have to think about this 24/7 like I used to. I am actually concentrating much more on family and work life which is terrific.

I will continue with my netball as it's an obsession right now. I will just continue to do what I am doing, and perhaps change a few eating habits again and hopefully the weight will slowly but surely come off.

Yes I have been successful with this and that is a wonderful thing.

Thanks for the positive words.

Vez

My port sticks out to but it doesn't cause me any problems. I occasionally will brush it with something, and when I go to bed I lie on my tummy, but it really doesn't bother me.

Actually when I went for an unfill recently my doc said that it was sticking out, and that it was unusual. Maybe because I have no weight left to lose off my upper body!

It is a small piece of wonder, that reminds me that I have something in there. Occasionally I will feel it to remind me what it was like to feel my babies feet sticking out!

You may have to have this repositioned if it is causing you problems.

Peek,

I know people who have played netball and it worked their leg muscles out of proportion to the rest of them. This might be happening with you.

Hi bubz,

welcome to the forum. This certainly is the place to post! And congrats on getting the band.

Had my first slime/pb today. Not a nice experience, but at least I recognised what was happening and ran for a tissue. Its the weirdest feeling. I've been eating very carefully for the rest of the day. That'll teach me.

Hi Sunwyse,

I have just found this chat site. I was banded 2 days before you, just 4 weeks today. Fortunately I have not PBed yet though I thought I was coming close after I ate a muffin with hommas too fast today, it hurt for a bit but didn't appear. When do you get your first fill, I get mine next Monday, I don't know whether I should look forward to it or not. I was banded in Sydney but will see the dr in Wollongong from here on. Regards

Brydie

Hi Tracy , Longingtobelean ( love the name) enjoy the last supper as your life is about to change , but for the best . My wife took me to the Burswood Hotel Buffet here in Perth for my last supper a week before I was to be banded , I dined like a King ha ha . I was 147.5 kgs when I first looked in to having lap band surgery , but got down to 133 kgs by the time the band was fitted ( on march 30th 2007 ) . I am now 94.5kgs and almost at target weight , 5-6 kgs more will be good . Its feels good when I go out to buy new clothes , my DR has put me in the waiting list to have a nip and truck . Good luck on the 27th, this is the best decision you have ever made . Well thats what us bandsters say when the weight starts to drop off . Have treated myself to a Lotus sports car because I have always wanted one and now slim enough to look like I belong in it ha ha . cheers hope all goes well regards .....Paul

Good luck! I was banded here in Florida (I am Australian but live here) on February 18 of last year (2009). I have now lost half of my body weight (lost 59 kilos). I don't think I will ever wear a bikini because I have too much loose skin, but I go to the gym 3 times a week and getting ready to do 5 since I am getting a personal trainer for strength training for 2 days a week AND I have taken up running and have entered (and completed) 2 half-marathons and several 5K's.

It's a whole new life and you are going to LOVE it!!! Best of luck to you. D.

Hi all,

thanks for all of your welcome's and wishes of good luck.

I had a wonderful 'last supper' (even made sure there was plenty of crackling on my plate.....probably won't be able to eat it again because it will be one of those things that will get 'stuck' easily:confused:).

All of your weight loss stories have been so inspiring :cheers2: that I can even put up with the nasty taste that the Optifast chocolate desert left in my mouth tonight . Don't think I will be buying anymore of that one.

Would love to be able to go out and buy myself a new sports car to Celebrate when I loose the weight, but I will be happy just to buy a bikini and be able to get into my kayak without tipping it over and landing in the drink!

Anyway, still have a long way to go yet so I will just take it one day at a time and hope that I can achieve the same kind of results that some of you have.

Cheers from NSW. Tracy

Hey there Tracey,

I personally am not fond of the chocolate Optifast - I prefer the vanilla.

My BMI was 37 too when I was banded on the 1st of August, and now, just over 5 months later, I'm close to my Dr's goal (though I wouldn't mind it at all if I went a few kilos under the number he set).

In fact I bought my first bikini is about 20 years a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I have a fair amount of loose skin, so wasn't game to actually wear it anywhere, but it was really nice to fit into one nonetheless!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
