3 month post-op bloodwork results!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share some good news. I had lots of bloodwork done for my 3-month post-op and I reviewed the results with my PCP this morning:

I'm diabetic, and my A1C at the end of January was 12.2%. One month post-op I was 9.6%. Now I'm at 6.4% and that's with being able to cut my medications by over 65%. My doctor thinks I'll be cured by the end of the year. I'm skeptical, but am very hopeful.

My triglycerides dropped by 50% and are pts away from being normal. Much to my surprise, my total cholesterol didn't budge. My doctor says my body is still trying to figure things out, and to give it more time.

In January, my liver and kidney enzymes were elevated, not a good sign of what my future held. Now those numbers are normal.

THAT's WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!

And as of this morning, I'm down 78.4lbs. If I'm lucky, I'll hit 80lbs down by the time I see my surgeon Thursday next week.

Thank you for letting me share.

Be well…

Rock on! Your triglyceride levels are directly related to your blood sugar levels. Now that your A1C's are so fabulous, your triglycerides should remain perfect too! Amazing health benefits!

@@jenn1 The positive comments in real life are just starting now. Probably because my clothes are starting fall off.

Awesome job! Can you believe that there are medical professionals out there that refuse to embrace this opportunity for their patients? Just eat less and move more, they say. It's like a lifeguard standing 20 feet from a drowning person and telling them to just swim harder!

As a newbie myself have I made post that I regret? I'd have to say yes!

I'm a bit over exited about all of this. It's still so fresh and new. I took a snap from a senior member I just took it as a teachable moment. am I perfect? Is anyone on here perfect?

I just don't take a negative post to heart.

Reality for me?..... This is just another forum. you take the good with the bad. Choose the post that help you the most. I surround myself with the positive and let the negative go. Have you ever been to a forum that was drama free? I'm finding there are a few that have forgotten what its like to be a newbie and that's ok. There are people that are supportive as well.

So with that off my chest, I'm off tomorrow for surgery,

everyday is a clean slate. moving on,

Jenn

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
