Just banded.... Am im Gassy...HELP

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I just had surgery with the lap band May 23. First three days were a struggle and slightly painful. I couldn't operate without my pain meds. I constantly felt a tightening in my chest. Now on my 4th day I feel better just extremely full of gas. I'm constantly burping and other stuff ????. I'm so worried as I want to do this right, considering this is something I've researched and thought about for 8 years before doing it. As of now I can't see any weight loss not sure if my stomach is still swollen but I'm going to purchase a scale later today. Please help me figure why there's so much gas and bloat on my stomach and please share if this happened to you.

Yep. Same thing happened to me. Gas X and keep walking. My daughter did karate chops all over my back which helped a lot too. But walking is the key. You may not feel like it but keep walking. Each day it will get better.

Your abdominal area was puffed full of air….gas pains happen different ways to different people.

If you are that uncomfortable be sure to check in with your doctors office…they will know the best ways to help you….sounds like you are following all your rules (good job!!! :) ) That is so important….so is being in contact with your doc if needed….thats what their job is all about!

My one piece of advice…don't worry about the scale and do not be a slave to it. My doc told me the first 6 weeks is ALL about healing properly and getting your mechanics down and if you lose weight…BONUS.

You just had surgery…give yourself some time to heal physically and sometimes emotionally. The weight loss will come….it will….just relax and feel better.

Best of luck to you!

I got banded on the 30th. My gas pains were bad. But the first day afterwards I paced the house. Second day I got outside and paced the driveway. Third day I walked my road. I used a heating pad for my shoulder and when I walked I put my arms above my head to open my lungs since I had problems breathing when I woke up from surgery. I'm on 5 days now no pain meds but still taking it easy. I have more energy and feel my best in the mornings but by the evening I'm sore so I kick back. Good luck and sorry I rambled on. ...

I havent had my surgery yet but my nutritionist warned me that the gas is usually the most difficult to deal with. She suggested gas-x that dissolves on your tongue and LOTS of walking. I wish you the best of luck on your journey. :)

I just had my Lap-Band Surgery on June 2, 2014..I only experienced some Gas at home the day after.. My Surgeon said to take 1 or 2 if needed my Gas X chewable pills, I chewed just one very slowly & I have kept walking as many times as I can around the house..Also, I don't know if this will also help, but my surgeon said to try & take Deep Breaths & blow out the air as much as I can, Not too strained, but breath in & out..Also to Cough & hold a pillow on my stomach, That helped me bring out the fleme & also with my Gas..By The 3rd day home I have already had a bowel movement & feeling fine..Actually I really gotta keep myself, from over doing it, because I do feel so well..So, I am behaving & following all my Doctors orders..I hope this information may help some..Lots of Luck..Mrs. Bee

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
