Need fill - this is depressing!

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 weeks out and don't get my first fill for another month! I'm eating everything in sight. I just had 3 cookies! Of course I inhaled them and took them while nobody was looking. Why is it food tastes better when you sneak it? I feel like I'm going back to my old pre-banded ways. I'm so afraid of gaining back the weight I already lost but I feel like I have no will power. So depressing!!

That is weird. I wasn't hungry at all the first weeks after surgery.. can you ask your doctor for an earlier fill. he gave me a fill after 18 days as we are planning fills for when I have to be gone all of June.. So it is not unheard of. Just before my next fill last week I was getting very hungry but now I can barely eat anything that is not mushy.. Good luck..

Berry--I think we all feel that way from time to time. I just got back from Texas Roadhouse and while it could have been worse, I ate an entire 6 oz filet mignon, a few bites of salad, and a few bites of green Beans. I am so stuffed right now! It was just so good I couldn't stop, even though I knew I had had enough. The band certainly doesn't fix the emotional aspect of eating for us, does it? I'm sorry you have to wait so long for your fill, but in the meantime, just try to be strong, and maybe next time you feel like eating something you shouldn't, go for a walk, or call a friend, or get on the boards here. You'll make it--and you will feel so much better after you have had a fill or two or three.

Hey girlie...a slip is just that a slip. It doesn't mean that it has to stay that way. We tend to beat ourselves up when we make these mistakes and they really are just that, mistakes. Get up tomorrow and start fresh. Make a new day and a new start, its really the only way. Forget about what happened today and move on. I have beaten myself up time after time and its to no avail, you aren't making things any different or any better being hard on yourself. Just try not to make the same mistake again. Good luck....POPT

I guess I better start walking more...:faint: Well Tomorrow I will try to eat better and exercise! Good bye for now! I'm going to bed!:notagree

Yeah, I'm in the same spot you guys are. I was banded on 3/30 and now I'm hungry all the time. I over ate at the movies on Saturday so I went back to liquid/mush yesterday and felt ok, but by the evening I was growling. Today I am trying to hard to be good at work, but again...the stomach just won't stop talking to me. :-( I'm not suppose to have a fill till May 25th and I just don't see how I'm going to make it. So much hate for an appetite..!! Someone suggested coming to the boards when they are tempted to cheat...I actually do that and it works really well. I need to start the walking thing, I think that will help too. It's so nice to have this awesome group to come and cry with. :-( I've been really snippy at my husband lately too and feel bad for that...but just had to remind him when he would "bite back"..I'm also going through an addiction withdrawl. This is hard. He agreed he hadn't thought of that and agreed to be more sensitive and understanding. I can't wait till this part is over and I've made it over this hump in the journey.

i feel your pain!

i could eat anything, so i did. i always had something in my mouth. i was so dissapointed in myself that i hid from this forum... i was ashamed! :cry

i got my first fill and am excited to get back on track... it turned out that i only gained 4.5lbs from the time i went on solids to the day of my fill. i'm actually pretty happy that that is all i gained!:rolleyes

i'm a little worried, to tell the truth though... i'm on 3 days liquids and can go back on solids tomorrow. i can drink with no issue (as my doc said i should be able to) but i am hungry almost all the time. growling belly is NOT FUN. :cry

until you get your first fill, just try to take it easy - if you've ever done weight watchers, maybe try to stick to points. i know it's hard - i failed.

GOOD LUCK!!! :clap2:

Don't feel too bad! Help is on the way. It won't be long until you get a fill and then the real fun begins.

As I recall, I was starving not too long after I woke up from surgery:rolleyes: !

I kept asking if I could have juice or a popsicle or something. I stayed HUNGRY until my fills kicked in.

You didn't get banded to feel the way you do right now. It is an adjustable band, and when it is adjusted, you will get the relief you seek.

By the way, as much as we all want to think our lifestyles have changed, take away the band and we will all be starving.

Hang in there and good luck!!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
