I am recovering from my VSG surgery. It's been 7 hours I can't believe how good I feel!!

I made my self sick with worry leading up to today. I even cried on the way to the hospital

This morning. I am praising God for his incredible love and giving me this almost painless

Recovery!!! I'm praying the others that are having theirs done soon have a good experience

Also. Thank you everyone on this board for your support!!

That's the Vicodin talking, wait till that wears off ;)

I'm kidding, but seriously, keep moving. I will hurt like heck but it will help you recover that much faster.

Congrats on having such an easy surgery. I was very uncomfortable from the gas after surgery, but it never hurt me to walk. I was mainly felt weakness. But like they say, get up and walk. It will help you in the long run.

i agree with walking as much as possible! helps with the shoulder referred pain but MORE IMPORTANT, decreases risk for blood clots in legs and lungs.

so happy for you!

I am post surgery 5 days today and I have to say I have been shocked at how easy my recovery has been. The first day or two I was very fatigued but since then all has been good. I have not had any problems with gas, burping, diarrhea, or throwing up. I have been shocked the small amounts I eat and how long it takes me to eat it. My energy level is getting better each day. In fact yesterday I didn't even need a nap. My biggest challenges have been bad breath and not gulping down Water. Added bonus not tempted by any food and I've lost 12 pounds since surgery. Keep positive everyone! I was so worried pre surgery that I would regret this but honestly I only see good in my future!

It's hard not to get caught up in numbers. Honestly a month from now we could be at the same weight loss, bodies do what they do. I have been drinking the costco premier Protein shakes 30 grams of Protein, 1 gram of sugar and low in fat. I drink 1/3 cup x 6 times a day. Here's the 2 week full Fluid diet they gave me1/4 cup plain oatmeal with skim milk and add scoop of Protein powder, 1/4 cup of plain yogurt (Greek), 1/3 cup of shakeSnack - protein shakeLunch- 1/4 cup strained low fat Soup, 1/4 cup of apple sauce add Protein Powder, protein shakeSnack - protein shakeDinner - 1/4 cottage cheese add protein powder1/4 yogurt, 1/3 protein drinkSnack - protein shakeSo I eat most of this. I might miss a scoop or so of protein powder. I take an hour to eat a meal. Never hungry. Never tempted. Water has been hard for me not to gulp down so I have decided to freeze water as Popsicles. There's all my secrets. Hang it there...it will all come together!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
