June 2007 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I took it easy w/ a slim fast tonight. Since I seem to be tighter in the mornings lately, then I will do a drink for Breakfast as well. Other than that, I'm going to make sure I'm REALLY chewing like I'm supposed to :P

Thanks for your comments - I want to avoid a reply of today if possible.

I do a full 48 hours liquids after a PB and not from self-discipline. I feel my stomach needs that time to recover. I'm really good at not PBing these days. I really have learnt to slow down and chew and pick foods that work.

NValicia - that is truly outstanding and you must have worked hard. I must say you deserved a great result like that.I remember when you got your port revision. I didn't want anything to go wrong for any of us and felt so bad for you. I can't believe how much your BMI has dropped. Inspirational!

I know I posted this on another thread but wanted to make sure you guys saw it.

Please be careful with alcohol as we are dropping weight and getting fills. I'm not sure what happened to me yesterday, if it was the first time drinking at this fill level or a combination of a couple other things. Yesterday I was in a controlled drinking environment for training and had four normal sized rum and cokes. I blew a .14. Now I know in the past I have drank waaay more than this and not had a severe problem. Well, I ended up with a ride in an ambulance and six hours in the ER with no memory really prior to the ER and very little memory of the first couple hours there. Violent throwing up was also involved and apparently I smelled as though I drank a hell of a lot more than what I did.

I've read that alcohol will be absorbed quicker now that we are banded but I never would have figured it to be like this. Sooo please be careful.

Side note: They x'rayed everything and my band is still in place and where it needs to be. I'm doing better but still a little shaky today and my throat and chest hurt from all the throwing up. Back on liquids (non-alcoholic, lol) for a few days just to be on the safe side.

Hey junies!!!

Happy almost Thanksgiving!!!!

I went to the doc two days ago and described how I could only eat a few bites. They decided to do a barium swallow...I actually saw the liquid trickling through my band....it was a tiny, tiny stream---I was too tight!!! I had lost 13lbs in a month...so they took out .2ccs

Side note: Yesterday marked my 3rd day of working out on the elipitical for 40 min. I hope I can keep it up!!! (YEA!!!! YEA!!!!!)

My birthday is Sunday!!!!! Nov. 18th....I'll be 38!!! (PARTY!!!!)

Bigbaby: Good job with the weight loss and all the cardio. IT's hard for me to stay on cardio because I get so board. But I still force myself to do it.

Farmer: Thats one hell of a story. I have gotten tanked a few time after being banded and I just notice I get drunk alot quicker. Witch is nice because I don't have to spent a bunch of money anymore. I think maybe you drank to fast and did not give the rum time to kick in so maybe it hit you all at once. anyhow glad to see your doing better today.

Hey, Junies! I'm back from Vegas! We stayed a couple extra days since we were having such a great time! I'll catch up and jump back in by the end of the weekend, but wanted to say "HI!"

Love y'all!

I've noticed the effects of alcohol, too. I try not to drink too much these days, mostly because I don't want all the calories, but it's hard to live on Miami Beach and never have a frozen margarita (which is pure sugar, lol). But it's true that one or two is my limit, whereas I used to be able to down at least 5 or 6. Of course, that was also back in the day when I could eat a full plate of calamari and a huge bowl of chips and salsa to soak up all the alcohol!

Danbo, I sometimes get bored with cardio, too. I've started taking my workout outside -- walking around my neighborhood instead of on the treadmill at the gym. Sometimes I use that time to call friends and catch up with them. The time definitely passes faster that way. I know you are sometimes on a boat for a while, so that kind-of kills the whole walking around the neighborhood thing, but maybe it would help to find someone you can workout with? You can encourage each other and hold a conversation while you are working out. In a macho manly way, of course :)

Speaking of drinking, can we drink beer? I prefer it to other things and really would like a sip or two. If not, what about hard apple cider?

lo2us, I have had beers, hard stuff, Jello shots, just about what ever I want. The only thing I have to say is to take it slow because I have felt some gas pains becasue of the drinking. you know what gives me the most gas pains is sugar free little hard candys and sugar free gum. I wont even eat them anymore becasue it gets so bad. I used to only have like one or two candys a day but not no more.

I"ve had a few pints of Guinness since banding with no problems. The only issue I have is that I have to drink it very slow, so it gets warm. Not really an issue with Guinness, but maybe not so great with another beer.

FarmerE - I"m gald you're OK!!

Stef - Welcome back!

BigBaby - Congrats on the elliptical! It's my fave machine ever.

Lucy - I LOVE walking outside! But, I live in Missouri, so winter is upon us! I think it will be nice enough for me to walk outside for a few more times, but then it will be all gym all the time for me until about March or April. I love walking outside because my mind has time to roam about. Lol. I've always been a 'daydreamer' but don't have mych time for it usually between work and life! Haha

BEER - Oh how I miss my bud lights... I haven't had anything carbonated since surgery. I don't miss diet coke at all, but I'd shave my head bald for an ice cold bud light!

I have the opposite problem! It's SO hot here between March and October that it's FINALLY cool enough here to walk outside! I'll only be able to do it for a few months until I have to get back inside the air-conditioned gym! LOL!

Great news, I have to share it: Today I hit onederland!!!!!!!!!! I am ecstatic!!!!! Finally, after months of not losing, my fourth fill gave me real restriction and I am losing again! Hooray!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
