Is it to soon for a fill??

Recommended Posts

Hi, I had surgery March 5th. At about week three or four I could eat just about anything. I have never been sick and had no problems eating. I try to chew everything very good. My doctor put me back on phase two today, pureed food I was hoping I could have my first fill now but he will see me around end of month. I didn't see him but talked to his nurse and told her i was eating food like i did before i had the surgery,

I had my first fil at 6 weeks.

It makes such a difference.

Maybe it has to do with your stomach healing too.

Everyone loses differently .

Best wishes,

edie

My surgeon asked me to come in for a first fill at 6 weeks also.

He also had me on a liquid diet for the frist 30 days. He said it was to allow the band to heal in place.

Please do not test your band. You will have lots of years for it to work after it has healed in place.

Exciting isn't it? I am 9 months out and FINALLY have good restriction and it is a wonderful thing................and my pants are too big.

I had my first fill only 3 months after surgery. My doc is rather conservative when doing fills (had 6 fills in 2 years, I am now with 8cc in a 10cc band). Don't be in a hurry, take baby steps, allow some time for your stomach and body to heal properly.

Emily, I would call and ask them at your next appointment if you can get a fill just to make sure. If you are eating that much food you definitely need a fill or 2. Julie

I had dr. Kirchenbaum in denver with a 3/29 surgery date. Before I left his office we scheduled a 4/27 fill date. (go figure I guess) terry

Wow,

I had my surgery on the 6th of March and I am going in today for my first fill. I wonder why you have to wait so long?

I was banded on 3/14/07 and feel the same I can eat just about anything. My next appointment is for May 15th and my Dr will decide based on my weightloss weather I need a fill. Which I do because I have gained 2 pounds. So I'm looking at another month of being able to eat whatever.

The "I can anything" feeling is completly normal and good. You are healed now and most dr's do require 6 weeks of healing before they irratate the stomach again. Don't be suprised if the first fill doesn't do the trick - I had to go in 3 times before I really felt good restriction, 4th one put me at my sweetspot.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
