Cup and half of soup...Is this too much?

Recommended Posts

I am 4 weeks postOp and I can eat 1 1/2 cups of Soup and not feel too uncomfortable. Is this normal or do I have a large sleeve? I figure that most of it passes through quickly and that is why I can eat so much. pureed foods are a different story. About 1/4 cup or less and I am stuffed. Just wondering about everyone else.

Soup is a slider. I was told to keep it out of my diet long term.

What your describing is totally normal!

That is what I thought. I am still in the pureed stage so Soups are a blessing for me right now. But I don't plan on eating them for long. Can't wait to eat some real food!

Puree was like torture for me. Eek. I went back to yogurts for that stage.

If you are talking about broth, it makes sense that you can eat so much. Soups with extra starches or fat could become problematic.

I'm 4 weeks out too. What kind of Soup are we talking about? I cant get down a cup and a 1/2 of anything. broth, I could probably get down 3/4 cups max. I usually stop at half. Thicker creamier Soups I can do 1/4 cup

Believe it or not it was Progresso Light Potato Soup.

I hate the puree stage too.

I'm able to take in a lot more of broths, Soups, etc. I've been trying to limit them. My doctor says this is normal. pureed foods are a different story, depending on what it is. I "graduate" to solids today. YAY!

Be well…

A wise woman on here told me early on, "just because you can, doesn't mean you should". I would measure it and set the half cup limit. It will set you up for good habits as you move through the process.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
