so much for starting to feel better...

Recommended Posts

After hitting a nearly 3 week stall I finally started losing again this past week slowly. Finally I was starting to feel better and not so down on myself. I went to see my doctor today and I've lost 7 lbs in the last month. Instead of hearing words of encouragement he told me I wasn't doing a good enough job and need to work harder. I explained to him I hit a stall and couldn't lose and nd I just started losing again. His words "well you just have to work through it". It didn't matter how hard I worked I couldn't lose it. I really thought I was doing good. Was even kinda proud of myself and need starting to accept this new life style better now I feel like I'm back at square one and did nd depressed again.

I know how disheartening it can be when you work hard and then have someone disapprove and tell you that you didn't do good enough. I had to learn to set my own goals and as long as I'm happy with my progress, the rest of the world can go jump off a bridge! :P It's tough to stop wanting the approval of others, but it's something I had to teach myself after being used once too often. So what if your doc isn't happy? What's he gonna do? Put your old stomach back in?

I feel the same way! I was excited about my weightloss and my doc told me that the way I'm going this will probably be all I lose and I might start gaining. I got a half hour lecture. It was really discouraging.

Our doc talked about that honeymoon period when we are losing, and the weight loss will stop. So I think you are being encouraged to do your best now while it will be effective. At almost 3 months out I hit a 1 month stall, and still slow going. But at the rate I am eating I know the scale will move sooner or later. Keep up the good work and do your best. That is all we can do!

7lbs a month is a fantastic rate of loss. Nearly two pounds a week.

Just try to zone him out and carry on as you are.

Things will pick up for sure. :)

"well you just have to work through it".

@@Lamonica2013

you ARE doing good/great!!!!

don't let the doc convince you that you aren't

"maybe" your doc was trying to "encourage"??? you to work harder............

but i don't think thats the way to do it!!!!

if he says any more discouraging words - he's gonna have to deal with ME :D

you've lost 33 lbs pre-op ,28 lbs post op - 61 lbs weight loss total :)

"they" say averaging 10 lbs per month is good

you've lost 28 lbs in 2 months - thats terrific!!!!

stalls are a bummer, but you/me/most of us will/do have them at one time or another

glad your stall is over :)

keep up the good work, (I know you will :) )

kathy

congrats

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
