i knew going into my sleeve surgery that my gallbladder was filled with stones, they werent active or causing problems, so my surgeon wouldnt remove it at the time of my surgery.

fastforward to now. i have been having some attacks, i am slated to have it removed april 17th.

my question is has anyone done a gallbladder/liver flush prior to gallbladder removal and have it help? i read things online about how amazing it is but i want someone in our shoes to say if it works or not.

i already seem to have issues digesting food as i am always constipated now. clearly enzymes that were in my belly to help digest have been removed. my surgeron doesnt see the big deal with Constipation. i do however as my food shouldnt be sitting in me for days. i feel if food goes in food should come out. but that's for another day :).

any one do a cleanse and feel it worked? i am just not sure i want another organ removed if i truly dont need it to be removed. as much as i trust my surgeon they all see $ signs when we come in complaining of pain. there wasnt even a thought about not removing it. it was just "needs to come out".

TIA!

I had mine removed last month. I am 8 months post sleeve. I went back and forth with the same thing. I read so much for 2 weeks straight and finally decided that having a severe attack would end me up in the er with open surgery and a month recovery. I would rather go in as out patient same day instead. I read so many horror stories of people having these terrible attacks. Gallbladder attacks start out small then can get much worse. I was upset of having to go in for another surgery. I must say it was a breese. In at 6 am and out and home by noon. I recovered in about 5 to 6 days. I have heard of people trying to detox and repair but rarely does anyone sucseed. I have no side effects. Upfront right after surgary a little gassy. I hope gets better for you.

This may not be what you want to hear, but just get it out. Because over time the attacks will become more frequent and more painful (trust me, I TRIED to put it off). And yes, you can die from a sick gallbladder (my grandmother did).

I also had my gallbladder removed a few years ago. It's a quick recovery and very little pain (especially compared to the attacks). And you won't miss the little sucker.

Get it out. I was having pain on my right side for 4 days that had started out mild but got progressively worse. By the time I went to the ER my gallbladder had ruptured. The Dr said if I had waited any longer I would have died. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. That tiny little organ is not worth your life.

I was just sleeved on Monday as well as my gallbladder removed. I asked to do it all at once because I didn't want to deal with another surgery. I had several stones that weren't bugging me but would most likely cause issues after the sleeve. I have a couple more incisions then just the sleeve and the pain I'm having is from the gallbladder removal. I'm glad it's over now and I can start healing and feeling better.

Thank you all for your advice/stories. I have one more Dr appointment before I go in for surgery and I'm going to ask their opinion as well. I feel like since we already 80% of our stomachs removed I'm now dealing with daily Constipation due to a lack of enzymes in my tummy to help digest food. I feel like taking the bladder out its going to make it worse.

I'll get it sorted out soon ;-)

Thanks!

If you don't mind me asking, what are the signs of a gallbladder attack? I am 7 weeks post op and am experiencing some mild discomfort in my upper stomach, some vomiting and gagging....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
