help with pre surgery diet

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone today is my first day of my pre surgery diet. I am scheduled to have my lap band surgery on April the 7th. It has not been too bad, however I would like to add more items to my menu. What else can I mix with my vanilla Protein Shake.< /p>

Every doctor has her/his own protocol. Mine was a pre-op diet of five days Clear Liquids. If they didn't give you a food list, call the office and ask the doctor or nutritionist. My pre-op diet was intended to shrink the liver before laproscopic surgery. If you're on shakes, it's different from mine. They can advise you. Good luck! It will go by faster than you think!

As WatchMe says, the pre-op diets vary so much it's hard to say. I like to put frozen fruit in a Protein Shake -- vanilla and peaches, yummy. Know that the first couple days are the hardest and then it gets so much easier. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!

We are in the same boat. First day, today, seems like FOREVER!!! My doc has me on a liquid ONLY diet for 2 weeks. My surgery is April 11th. I can drink 4 Protein Shakes daily, clear broth, sugar free Jello and popcicles, crystal lite and diet soda. That's it. My head is pounding tonight and I'm starving. :(

I have a page on my blog with the recipes my surgeon's office gave me for Protein shakes! There are lots of good suggestions and you can always tweak it to fit your surgeon's guidelines :)

Here's the link if you want to check it out:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
