Advice about calories

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm about 4 1/2 month out of surgery. Doing well but weight loss has slowed to a crawl. I'm down about 57lbs and have about 40 to go. I am eating between 600 and 650 cals per day, 98% Protein and drinking a ton. After a quick call with my nurse she told me she thought I was not eating enough. What are you eating at 4-5 months out? What is a good caloric amount to jump start my weight loss? Any suggestions are helpful. I'm waiting for my nutritionist to get in touch. Thanks.

I will be 4 months out tomorrow. I have lost just shy of 50 lbs so far. Not as fast as I'd like, but I did just start exercising in the last month or so. Anyway, I eat around 800-900 calories/day. I try to keep carb less than 50 and Protein 60-80. Hope this helps.

I too was only eating about 600-700 calories a day but actually only netting about 400 or so with working out. A couple of weeks ago at the support group meeting the nurse suggested I up my calories. It's only been one full week but I went from losing 1.8 pounds to 4.4 this week. I'm now eating about 900 or so a day.

Oh yeah, I'm only a little over 3 months out! Surgery was 12-16-14.

That confirms it. Seems like I'm about 300 calories short. I'm going to change MFP from 600 per day to 900 and see if I can get things moving again. I typically eat less than 30 carbs a day. Best of luck to you all. This is a wonderful journey. Thanks for your responses. Every little bit helps. Denise

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
