Congratulations on taking the first steps toward WLS!

As far a a timeline and/or checklist goes, it varies greatly. Who is your insurance provider? Maybe someone that has the same can chime in and offer some insight.

@@ges12877 I am having my surgery with Dr. Rantis too. Didn't they give you the sheet with all the appointments you need?

Yes. I went to the January 29th seminar. Met with Dr. Rantis on Feb. 11th. I have BC/BS of IL and only needed the psych eval and dietician appointment to get approved. I wasn't able to get in to see the pulmonologist until March 17th. If you haven't made that appointment, do it now! They book up quick and despite me having no other health issues they are still making me go for a sleep study. I have that this Thursday 3/27. All I am waiting on is clearance from the pulmonolgist's office. She said it will take up to a week for them to get my sleep study results and another 7-10 days if I need to be on a CPAP. If you have any questions, let me know. I'd be happy to answer them. It has been overwhelming to say the least. I wish I someone was there to tell me what would happen at each appointment along the way.

We are in the exact same boat! I made all of the appts today. sleep study this week. sleep study results on 4/15. Dietitian appt on 4/7. I have the psych eval tomorrow. Do you have any idea when your surgery will be scheduled for? It sounds like you are a couple weeks ahead of me in the process. I would love to get together with you to chat if you are open to it. I live in Arlington Heights. Let me know if you are interested. Good luck with your appts!

I have no idea. It all depends on what happens with the sleep study. That is the only thing holding me up. I would love to be able to have surgery in April or the beginning of May. I don't know how far out they are scheduling though. Plus with the 2 week pre-op diet I'm thinking May is more realistic. I would love to get together. I live in Palatine!

Hi!! My surgeon gave me a check list at my first appt. I bet you'll get yours with your first appointment with your surgeon. After reading a lot of posts on this site, I think a lot of surgeons differ on what they require. They should also tell you what your insurance company requires too. They should be able to tell you all of this on your first visit. Good luck!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
