March 2014 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

I just yesterday went through my closet and got rid of all my old clothes...I haven't fit in most of them for some time now but couldn't bring myself to give them away...I am so scared that I will gain this weight back...I still have another 40 pounds to my goal weight...not sure that I'll make it there by the one year mark, but as long as I'm still losing I'm happy.

So how did everyone manage over Thanksgiving? I usually weigh myself on Fridays but I decided to skip this week...LOL...I have recently hit "onederland" and didn't want to ruin my high after just one week! Hope everyone is still doing well!

Very strange week. I'm down 8 lbs since the previous Thursday "thanks" to food poisoning from tasty, but bad seafood the weekend before T-giving. As of Sunday, I'm actually feeling normal but Thanksgiving goodies were not an issue. One great NSV, one of my nieces saw me and "as only a child can" said "Aunt Susie, You look great". That was truly the best part of my holiday. Still sick, but I look and feel SO much better than this time last year. Hope y'all's holidays are going well!!!!

Hi everyone! I decided to not deprive myself on Thxgiving. I had a small plate of "a little of everything" which I did not finish of course, but it sure made me feel better having it in front of me.

Only 15 lbs until goal! Slowly starting to incorporate a little more calories here and there since it seems like I might have trouble coming to a hault once I reach goal.

Hope everyone is doing great.

Hi Everyone, how is everyone's losing going now? I still feel that I have a ways to go. I have slowed right down, I am lucky if I loose a half a kilo in a fortnight. I am getting about 900cal a day, is that too much? I walk three times a week, training once a week and konga (weights and burn) once a week.

Just wondering what people are doing to kick start the weightloss once it has slowed. I am in a 16 and have been for two months now, would love to drop that one more dress size before January.

Thanks, and you are all doing super!

I am still plugging away at this...my weight loss has come to a crawl but I haven't been exercising at all since the weather has been colder. I still have about 40 pounds until goal so I'm hoping slow and steady wins the race!

Thanksgiving was't too bad. I have learned to listen to my body. I just ate very small plates. Instead of using the normal size plates i used the desert plates for my food and got small amounts of all my faves. I am 17lbs from my goal and hit onederland about a month ago. I started working with a new personal trainer and that was the key for me. He pushed me with out causing me and pain due to my sports injuries as a teen. I am feeling great even though I am fighting a cold right now. Hope everyone is doing well.

How did you all determine your goal weight? My surgeon never told me a specific number so I looked at the BMI chart to see what the range for healthy is and made that my goal. I'm 5'10" and currently weigh 195 and my goal (according to said BMI chart) is 165. I've been at my current weight since the middle of November so I'm wondering if this is it for me? Has anyone else hit a never-ending plateau and decided this must be it?

I used the BMI chart to determine mine as well. I've been stalled since November as well (darn holidays threw me off my groove!) I've got 14 lbs to go.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
