Two days post-op, minimal discomfort

Recommended Posts

I'm two days post-op and its hard to believe I just had major surgery. My symptoms are minimal. Tight after surgery, in the hospitals recovery area, patients are asked to walk every two hours and this includes overnight. I had a lot of gas and I truly believe the walking helped resolve this. Although I still have gas it seems very manageable with gas-x. For pain, I was prescribed Percocet which helped relieve any pain I'm supposed to be feeling.

3 days after surgery I went to grocery store and then shopping couple days later. Easiest surgery ever, but scary of the unknown. 4 months later, ahhhhhhh! Joyful!

Congrats! I was one of the lucky ones as well. The main thing I feared was nausea because I HATE to throw up, but I didn't have a minute's worth. I didn't even take my pain medicine. I honestly feel that I could have gone back to work in a couple of days, but I went ahead and used up some of my sick leave.

Thanks everyone. I am now 11 days out and I can definitely say, I am feeling very normal. Probably my real challenge is learning how to eat all over again and I mean this by saying taking small chews instead of big ones as well as small gulps instead of guzzling down my liquids, I'm confident I will learn, afterall I gave up a lot to be able to reach my goal.

Same here jluv. I'm 16 days out and amazed how little pain was involved. Creating new eating and drinking habits are a bit of a challenge.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
