I guess not. I post things and just feel like I am talking to myself unless I send PM's. Just wanted to make sure I was posting correctly.

Hi radgoll! It happens to me, too. I think it's just because there are so many of us a-MAY-zing bandsters out here and unless a post is directed to someone in particular, we can feel overwhelmed sometimes? :omg: I know if I miss a day, there are pages of new posts! Good luck, friend, I'm here for you!

sillywilly - I was told to wear something really stretchy around the waist becasue your stomach is blown up with gas. I'm taking old sweats with lot's of room around the waist. I've heard it can take a couple days for that to go down.

ragdoll - I see you!

Bandmates! Twinmommy, eljmom, Wen, LisaM, how is the pre-op going? I totally blew it last night but didn't gain anything this morning, didn't lose anything either but . . . . I'm down 18 total so far!!!!

Monday Bandsters - Huge group! Hope all 7 of you do great!!! Can't wait to hear how you all did. Hugs and good luck, lot's of prayers to you all!

What are you guys WEARING post op?? I read a few threads were people said they were very swollen for up to 5 weeks post-op.... Are you able to fit in your old (or even better... SMALLER) clothing?? How bad is the swelling?? Does it look like you've actually GAINED weight?? Thanks

Well, I haven't had to go back to work yet, so I've just been wearing overalls and anything loose that won't rub against my stitches. I have another week off, so hopefully I'll feel like wearing my old clothes once I do go back to work. The swelling's not terribly bad. No, I can't say it looks like I've gained weight, but then I haven't really been looking. However, I've felt really, really bloated, both from gas and from fluids. I'd have been (even more) miserable if I couldn't have worn something loose.

Have you talked to your doctor about this? I'd say if you've had to diet the better part of your life that the lap band is certainly something to consider. Why should you have to continue to struggle? I'm not saying that the lap band makes dieting easy. You still have to do the work. You still have to diet and exercise. But the lap band gives you the hope that you'll be able to succeed.

If you want to do this just because you think it's the easier way, I'd have to say don't do it. It is after all surgery and w/out the work, there's no guarantee you'll lose the weight.

I was banded on the 8th. I am not recovering as quickly as I had anticipated...but not doing too shabby. I am now able say I'm up and doing some things. I walked on the tread mill for about 5 min. this morning and am going right back to it as soon as I post. I am having difficulty getting used to drinking so much so slowly..plus the other little kinks that are out there.

Hope your all doing well. I have had much anxiety and worry about my intake of fluids. I think I"m overly stress out ....but like I said, each day gets better.Shar

Hi Ragdoll.. Peak A Boo.. I see you!! I can read your thread. I think people post on here so quickly, that sometimes things get buried between responses...

Marcinharr.. Were you going to go thru your insurance? They may need you to prove that you have complications that are the result of your weight..... My bmi is 39.. so I can't help you there :-(

Cindyluhu,

I was banded on Tuesday, and my port was placed behind my bellybutton. The nurse told me that the Dr prefers this because as you lose weight it is less noticable than it can be on the side.

Thanks for the input. I just had my surgery Thursday an just got home today (Saturday). The surgeon put my port on my lower right side.

The surgery went great. In the OR at 7:30, in recovery at 9:20. Dr. said things went great, that is until the barium swallow the next morning. The surgeon said something looked funky. Now I don't know about you, but when I heard that, it didn't sound so good. They wanted to keep me for another night, then do barium swallow again the next morning (as if it didn't taste bad enough the first time around)! Well, they did the bs and said it still looked funky, so off I went to cat scan. The radiologist and my surgeon said it looks fine. I guess what was happening was the barium went through ok, but then went up and around to the stomac which was stitched to the band. It then went down the correct way. He just wanted to make absolutely sure that it would be ok. That's fine with me, better safe than sorry. I would hate to be a week or month out and have to repeat the surgery. Other than that, everything went fine. I started walking the hospital hallways several hours after surgery, to try to stall off the imminent gas. Gotta tell ya, it did arrive in my right shoulder. It was also sore to take a deep breath at times because of the gas under the diaphram. Nothing that couldn't be tolerated, however. Well, now I'm going to continue readying the entries for the past two days to catch up. Good luck everyone. It's awesome finally making it to the other side. And PS, I now have another two weeks of liquid diet until I see my surgeon again. Gotta love that broth!!

Cindy

I brought a t shirt and a comfy pair of light weight sweat pants to wear home. I wasn't sure how my stomac would be feeling, or how bloated, so that's what I chose. Now that I'm home today, I just threw on a comfy pair of pajama pants and t shirt to just hang around the house. I took this whole week off to get used to things. So far, so good, two days post op. Hope that helps you with what to wear. Good luck.

Cindy

I had my last pre- op visit at University of Pennsylvania Hosp. and a nutrition seminar yesterday. Its very exciting to think that the next time I go, it will be surgery day. I dont have a pre op diet though. It is interesting how different Doctors do different things!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
